I stripped those phillips screws just before the sensor. Glad to see you had an issue too guess I am gonna have to drill the out as well! Im gonna try and make a dremal slit for a flat head first just to see if I can get it one more time I am not doing spectrum mod, but I bought a used D800 and it cant focus to infinity. It is not a lens issue since all the lenses work on my Z5 already with adapter

Hi, that sounds strange for a 2nd hand camera, but we'll, I've seen so many weird things that I shouldn't be surprised. For the screws, they not Phillips and if you used a Phillips screwdriver instead of JIS that may explain the stripped screw, but we'll even with the right ones it happens sometimes too. Hope you manage to remove it as it is always a tricky job.

Thank you for these amazing videos! I have Nikon D80 , D200 and D300. Which one of these is the easiest to convert full spectrum and is there something to worry about ?? Thanks

Hi, out of these 3 cameras, I've already converted a D200 myself, so I can say confidently that it is doable, although you need to do some de-soldering. Results are very nice. I've never tried the conversion on a D80 or D300 so I cannot say much about them, but if I have to choose, the D80 would be my choice. I think the D80 and the D200 have the same sensor, and the D200 delivers great infrared and UV results.

@@diyextravaganza Thank you very very much. I will do the D80.

Good job ! I'm curious : Is minimum focus distance a bit further away because of quartz "increased" thickness ?
@diyextravaganza

Hello, yes, but only a tenth of a millimeter at best as it goes about 1/3 of the thickness. Best.

Can you please tell what's the difference between those two glass sheets you replaced?

Hi, one is the hot mirror, that eliminates infrared and UV, that would be the greenish one, the other is the one that shakes dust off and it also has some coating for UV and IR judging from the color. Regards.

You know, is something you can learn and practice. I'd recommend starting with a cheap camera and lenses obviously. In any case, you can always ask for advice. It is the whole goal of this channel. Best

Hum… interesting job but honnestly I would prefer to play with a d70 (Îknow you already did a tuto on it) than these high end cameras. Better to keep their sensors untouched :). But it s interesting how to dismount part of them is needed :).

Hi, I agree with you, when you fail a d70, it's annoying but not a big deal (I broke one once), when you fail a high-end camera, you've lost a few hundreds of dollars. So great patience and care are the commands for such a job. On the other hand, I've seen D600s and D800s (heavily used) hitting the 200 dollars bar, so, for some, maybe worth the risk providing that "professional" conversions are around 1000 dollars for high-end cameras. I did a D600 for myself, and this D800 I did for a guy in France.
