Hello Dragosian - Terrific presentation ! I agree completely with all of the positive responses below. You convinced me - I'm ordering two tomorrow. They will be installed on a recently purchase Nikon D850 and an older, although great, Nikon D2x. Please try doing some more videos - you are a natural. Thanks, Terry

Thank you for this video. I also have a D810 and had the DK-17M and DK-19 from my D2x just sitting in the box for years. After watching your video I decided to put them on my D810 and like it with them attached.

I just bought the DK-17m for my Nikon d850. Perfect! Yes, the viewfinder image is very slightly cushion distorted and the corners are slightly darker. But you hardly notice this when you see the impressively large viewfinder image. The info window at the bottom is easy to read and at 50 mm the viewfinder image is exactly the same size as directly seen in real by your second eye. I would not advice the DK-17m however when you are wearing glasses. The image will then probably suffer from vignetting.

@Dazz bean the only downside is that the viewfinder image distorts a little, slight cushion distortion. That is probably the reason why NIKON does not mount this viewfinder enlarger standard on its cameras. But for the rest the image is perfectly large and bright; it is like looking through a very large window. I am really very satisfied with it. Just a small final remark: if you have glasses then the distance from your eye to the viewfinder is a little larger. In that case you might not be able to see the corners of the image. But if you do not have glasses I definitely recommend it!

Great products, but for price of D500 you would think nikon could provide these accessories with the body.

I like the DK19. You need to clean off fingerprint marks from the inside before you install it. Also often these eyepieces can get stuck. So before you install it you can use a needle to put a couple of tiny spots of Vaseline on the thread. It will mean you will easily be able to remove the eyepiece in the future.

Very nice and helpful video, just changed my eye piece as well. Quick friendly tip: If you make a video of a detailed shot make sure your focusing distance is in the range of your lens. As like in the video, most of the time you were focused on the camera body not on what were you doing with the eye piece. Most of the video was blurry, or try a different lens which has a closer focus distance. Great video, thank you!

Thanks for the comment! Was struggling with focus even more than it’s shown. Old soapy camera has macro mode but it looks like there is a point where it gets confused with macro or normal mode.

Norbi David Hi Norbi David, a question if you don't mind. Do you have any trouble using the DK-17m wearing glasses? What is your overall recommendation of it? I have the DK-19 eyecup, it is great for blocking out light.

Very good video, thanks. The only issue I have now is, when I lay the camera on its back, the eyecup becomes a suction cup and seals to the table. With a battery grip on the D850 and no lens, I have to lay it on its face. Crazy.

Good one. Which diopter/correction eyepiece [series] fits into the DK-19? Never explained on Amazon! You did a great job here, because it's hard to find info on the internet about combining different products. Oh, and the DK-17M is impossible to find nowadays!
@IONHowTo
4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! :) I only tried the ones in the video and they fit on all Nikon cameras with round viewfinder. Afaik, diopter correction/adjustments are done in the camera body +- adjust next to viewfinder. Unless I misunderstood what you meant.

@@IONHowTo It's really weird. There are 2 kinds of Nikon diopter eyepieces. One has a really thin flange and fits into the DK-19 -- just like the flange on the neutral glass that comes in the DK-19 -- those are the ones I'm trying to find. The other [usual?] kind have a thicker flange and fit inside the simple rubber ring that protects one's spectacles. It's hard to explain, and I'm too lazy to show the pics of what I mean. Anyway, what I'm talking about is a DK-19 with, say, a +1 eyepiece installed in it. Thank you for your good work.

I was thinking to sell my camera after getting the Lumix S5 but this camera paired with the helios 85mm 1.5 made for Nikon is really amazing for family portraits photos. We bought that lens directly from the factory in Russia. For that lens, this magnifier is super useful as it's manual focus only and even at 2.0 it's very easy to miss focus. At 1.5 it's pure luck with moving subjects. You get 20 kindof failed photos and 1 amazing pic. Even if it's 100 to 1 it's still worth it.
