I took a time-lapse of the sunset with Nikon Z30 (settings are in the summary column). This is a Holy Grail timelapse with brightness changes from sunset to sunset to night. Interval shooting makes it easy to shoot. I went around 5 places in a week and made a video together.
●Shooting location
Lake Shinji, Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture
Yodoe Sea, Yonago City, Tottori Prefecture
Yonago City, Tottori Prefecture Yonago Castle ruins Honmaru top
Minatoyama Park, Yonago City, Tottori Prefecture
Yasugi City, Shimane Prefecture Minato Shinsui Park
The sunset over Yonago Castle Ruins and Lake Matsue Shinji was spectacular.
I tried setting the Holy Grail Time Lapse like this.
I used this video by Hiroyuki Narusawa as a reference for the settings ↓
• NIKON Zfcにも備わってるガチなタイム...
● Picture control scenery
● A mode Aperture priority
●ISO100
● F value Open
●Manual focus
● Image quality mode jpg (because I want to make a time-lapse video in the camera immediately after shooting)
● High Sensitivity Noise Reduction OFF
● Vignette control standard
Diffraction correction ON
● Metering mode center-weighted metering
- USB power supply ON (Battery was enough for shooting for about 1 hour and 30 minutes)
● Camera shake correction OFF
● ISO sensitivity setting
・Automatic sensitivity control ON
・Limited upper limit sensitivity: 6400, 10000 (I prefer this)
・Low speed limit setting: 8s (10-15s would be fine if the shooting time is long)
● Interval timer shooting
・ Shooting interval: 10s (12-17s would be fine if the shooting time is long)
・The number of shots x number of frames per shot The shooting end time appears while setting, so set it while watching
・Exposure averaging ON
・Silent shooting ON
・ Shooting interval priority ON
・ AF drive at each shooting interval OFF
· Optional time-lapse video ON (set at 2K30P and 4K30P. I prefer 4K)
After setting all, save in user setting (save in U1 or something)
Decide on the composition, manually adjust the focus to the horizon, and start shooting!
From the second shot, switch to U1, set the composition and focus, set the number of shots x number of shots, and start shooting!
Videos and photos other than Holy Grail Time Lapse are taken with a smartphone. I think it's pretty good with a smartphone.
Hiroyuki Narusawa's video is Zfc settings, but Z30 can be almost the same. Once set, you can change settings in one shot by registering the Z30 in the user settings. All you have to do when shooting is set the number of frames to shoot.
I tried various upper limit sensitivity settings, but ISO10000 was good. ISO6400 feels a little dark. Matsue Shinji Lake is ISO 6400, and Yonago Castle Ruins is ISO 10000. The shooting interval was set to 10 seconds. With this, if you shoot for 1 hour, it will be about 10 seconds of video.
I set the time-lapse movie to be automatically created after shooting. I tried with full HD and 4K, but 4K feels finer, and I think it's good because it can be enlarged when editing. In the case of time-lapse, even 4K does not stop heat. The file size was about 50MB for full HD and 200MB for 4K.
The lens is the usual NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR (lens kit lens). Shot at the wide-angle end of 16mm.
●Edit
Adobe Premiere Pro 2022
Adjust the brightness, saturation, etc.
