I was a runner from March 1979 to Oct 2022. Due to bilateral, age related meniscus tears, I had to quit. Now I'm a walker and a biker. I always ran with one pair of shoes for exactly one year. Can you say Shoe Goo ! I went from 6 miles 3x a week to 4.5 miles 3x a week before I quit. That's over 900 miles on one pair of shoes back in the day, and then about 675 to 700 as an old guy. Never was concerned about responsiveness and energy return. As long as I didn't get plantar fasciitis and I had shoe goo to fill in the worn heels, I was good to go . Except for a sprained ankle when I step on a rock in the road , I never had an injury until my knees acted up in Jan. 2022. Ran for 9 months with pain and then decided it wasn't worth it anymore. The MRI confirmed the diagnosis .It took about a year to be completely pain free. Now I'm just an old guy walking the streets watching all the young people running passed me. Time waits for no one.

The important part is that you are still out there moving forward! Certainly there are plenty of folks who just use one pair of shoes until they simply fall apart, and if that works for you, great! But there is no debating the shoe's support, cushioning, responsiveness, grip, etc. will break down over time. But everyone wants the most miles for their money and my goal is to provide some insight as to what to expect from certain shoes. Thanks for sharing!

Great advice. Unsure why so many people need so many trainers. Get them, run and be happy until they are ruined then buy more. Issue is all these people on KZitem get them for free on occasions so try and push them for the companies as much as possible.

@@phehibs Yes, I did a KZitem channel for a few years on running shoes for old farts like me.I bought all of them that I reviewed. I did a video once on ,if you compete in races all you really need are your daily trainers and some lighter weight ,more responsive racing shoes. I listed about 5 categories these days that the shoe companies want to sell you 5 or 6 pairs. You know ,one for recovery days , one for up tempo days , one for interval speed training days , one for race day, etc.etc.

Wow what a great run you have had bro…I was in the Indian Army trained in just one pair of thick shoe in which we would do our BPET, 10 miles x country n night matches of 80 km… the responses of my shoes was as good as my minds response. We would keep going in best of timings knowing well that if u don’t do it now, you are coming back again tomorrow 😂… stay fit n keep taking the next step !

I agree on the lack of responsiveness. I sold mine after 150km for $40 to a friend. Bought another pair of the Invincible 2 on 50% sale. I have 2 pairs and really love them over the Nimbus 25. The Invincible is both cushy and responsive. The Nimbus is just cushy but not responsive. Subscribed. Nice video Sir.

If we were to run a marathon in Canada, which one would you suggest?

Interesting, I have about 400km on mine and felt that I was loosing the me cushion squish at about 300km, around 200miles. Which lines up with what you experience. Though for me the squish it's loosing is starting to get felt through my knees. I find asics rubber outsole to be pretty slippery on wet asphalt and wet drain covers. Would never think of running these in the tropical rainforest trails I'm in.

Interesting indeed! It's nicely affirming when someone has the same experience as you, so thanks for sharing!
