Normally I’m not a fan of any competition ending in a tie but after the battle these two had there was no other way for it to end. These two women did a hell of a job! Two great athletes acknowledging each others greatness!

This was very cool. I'm an American but I love Nina's respect for Katie...and Nina is exactly right about their last 4.90 jump; Nina won that in my opinion. But you could see they were both exhausted. Best for all to stay healthy, with the Olympics 1-year away. Well done.

It's weird, because based on the video, it appeared like Katie motioned for Nina to come over. It also looked like the conversation went along something like this (paraphrasing): Katie: "So we need a jump off?" Nina: "Yeah." Katie: "Okay.....so do you want to continue or...." Nina: = Processing in shock = "Gold for both of us?" Katie: "Yeah!" Nina: = Hand to mouth in shock and happiness = "Yes!!" = Tears begin to flow = Then they hugged. I mean I could totally be wrong and right off the bat Nina said something like "Wanna share?" But if you re-watch the video it almost looks like Nina was shocked that sharing the gold was even an option. I don't know, but I'm extremely proud of both of them. During the heat of competition, they both put that aside to acknowledge their equal abilities and share a once-in-a-lifetime achievement. That takes alot! They both did well. I don't know, can anyone who read lips tell me what they said?

Some may not be aware. Only days after Katie and Nina shared the Gold, they met again at Wanda Diamond League Zurich. This time Nina prevailed and won the event with a clearance of 4.91 m, setting some new records. Katie came second and Sandi Morris third. Katie cleared 4.81m. Further congrats to Nina who is going back home for a few weeks but then goes to Oregon for the championship of Wanda Diamond League comp.

Very cool! As an American I throughly enjoyed the competition. I love how both girls claim it was their idea to tie for first place. 😂

Going by the body language, the defending champ decided whether they had a jump off or not. Watching it with the live commentary seemed to supported this, so kudos to the American.

Katie was already a world champion and Olympic gold medalist. Her decision to accept Nina's offer of sharing the gold was a lovely gesture. Nina had a lot to lose if the competition went further, not Katie.
