I remember seeing this at the time. She followed a modern band and brought the house down. Legend is a too often used word, but if ever there was one it was Nina Simone.

She once walked out onto a stage almost an hour late and told the audience “you are not worthy” and then immediately proceeded to thump out one of her classics on the piano. The travesties we call divas today can’t hold a candle to true divas.

❤ My Miss Simone passed in 2003. I toured with her in 1988. Her playing is so on point here. But I really love what she says in the end here. 🤣 that was the lady I knew. ! 🙃. 🇺🇸✍🏾 Leah

Yes especially since she did not like people talking or singing while she was performing she wanted you to listen. True Nina Simone friends knew this about her and what she expected from her audience.

+Clio Prentt The presenter, Richard Blackwood, asked Nina a very silly question. Nina is a legend and to ask her if she rated groups like TLC or The Backstreet Boys is not only an insult but highlighted Mr Blackwoods ignorance of Ms Simone's brilliance. It's like asking the chef of a Michelin star restaurant if they serve KFC.

I remember hearing the brushes on this song when I was a kid and loved it (way before I started playing the drums), always enjoyed the swing that the brushes and hats provide. But the clapping, with you 100% on that. Why do people feel the need? And as for those that clap on the One & Three...

What does Nina Simone have that Beyonce doesn't have? CLASS!
@AsifKhan-ju4ld
9 жыл бұрын
+RastaSaiyaman What does Beyoncé have that Nina Simone doesn't have? ASS! Joking aside it's absolutely and utterly stupid to compare the two in any way shape or form. Beyoncé is a performer and entertainer, and I personally love her. Nina was a talented artist and I love her too. You might as well try comparing The Supremes with The Spice Girls. Come on now! Why does Beyoncé get mentioned on every other Black artists videos? Are you judging the musicality on brilliance or skin colour?
@MR-li1jj

Asif Khan You just said it yourself. “ASS”. Nina Simone has class because she’s modest and doesn’t feel the need to show off her body to have her talent appreciated.
