@Kedbuka please forgive me for my offensive remarks. They were uncalled for and I apologize. Rocky was not slow footed. He was fighting small heavyweights or light heavyweights and he kept up with them just fine. I dont think Floyd could have knocked Rocky out. Remember that Floyd had a weak chin and all it takes is one. Sonny would have given Marciano a good fight but he needed a lot more experience. When Rocky retured he had like 10 or so fights!

@Kedbuka he fought the best blacks of the time..Jersey Joe Walcott, an old Joe Louis, Archie Moore, and Ezzard Charles. How come none of those black men defeated him? How come a white man is the current heavyweight champion?

@PUGZCAT he is the only unbeaten undefeated heavyweight champion of the world. He was a great white man and blacks just cant handle the fact that no black guy has that disctincion. So many of them want to discredit this great legend!

@ah93704 Apology accepted, no problem. Regarding Liston, it's been reported that Marciano considered coming out of retirement when Johansson beat Patterson but decided against it after Liston demolished Patterson. I'd have bet all my money on Sonny, who would've presented all kinds of matchup problems for Marciano. And yeah, Floyd didn't have the greatest chin in the world but I don't know that Marciano did either, although he was certainly tough. But Liston? Oh man, he was a bad dude.

@Kedbuka Yeah, he was gonna fight Johannson actually. But Damato demanded an immediate rematch and blocked the much talked about match up. I honestly dont think Rocky would have ever made a comeback. He was making too much money as the unbeaten undefeated heavyweight champion. Had he fought anybody and lost, all of that is gone. Sure, he got a big pay day, but his legacy would have been hurt badly.

@Kedbuka Sonny was a big powerful guy but he had a bully mentality. I dont think he could bully Rocky. I think Sonnys jab would give Rocco problems but I dont see him being able to use it effectively. I see Rocky bullying him on the inside and making him quit late in the fight. I see Liston sitting on his stool with a hurt shoulder..LOL

@ah93704 My head's big but it's not THAT big. Your comments about black and white men in boxing are offensive...and spurious (i.e. stupid). Rocky Marciano was a class-act and a fine sportsman. He fought and beat everyone they put in front of him, true. But he was slow-footed, slow-handed and porous defensively. He was right for his time when all the top HW's were too old or too small or both; he got out of the business before Liston could get a hold of him. Even Patterson might've KO'd him.

@ah93704 You're absolutely right. One loss and he's immediately dropped from all the all-time lists and he's just another ex-champ. Retiring undefeated was a brilliant move. The world lost Rocky too early as he was a great guy and a terrific sportsman. I like those old fights here on YT where he does the commentary. He really knew his stuff.

@ah93704 Pretty funny. I, on the other hand, see the Night Train pounding Marciano's head off his shoulders in a brutal knockout. And I mean violently knocking him out. It wouldn't go ten rounds in a one-sided dismantling. But, we'll never know, will we?
