It actually makes sense that there is no home menu on the kisok one, you wouldn‘t want some kids to mess with the settings so this is simply stripped from the firmware or simply disabled and set to direct boot the cartridge. I think that the box and the access door and the cable wrapper are so "nice" because it was intended to be used also as a kiosk of sort, if not right away, maybe in a possible future. Two things that might be worth looking in to: 1. Does the GBA cart power the LED in the Kiosk Shell when plugged in to a regular DS Lite? (I have a feeling that it is just pulling voltage from the GBA slot to power the LED and there is no data transfer or software involved just power.) 2. If the Kiosk's built in DS Lite can play retail DS games, can it play retail GBA games if there is no DS card inserted?

WD#-JPN vs WD#-JPN-1 (Can't seem to read the third letter, but assuming the first identifier is Wireless Distribution, then region, then revision) Assuming, if the wall-mounted one is purely automatic/remote used, the GBA cartridge is a re-writeable RAM cart to store the content that is currently in use? Wifi is bidirectional by nature. I am to lazy to look up specifically, but I assume that local multiplayer with a Nintendo DS sets up a local WLAN network where one console plays host and the others are clients. I would even assume the nintendo switch to do the same thing - the bloody way to get pictures of that thing is to turn it into a Wifi Hotspot! Yeah sure, when you host a LAN-Party with PCs you use a network router (that may or may not be connected to the internet), but that is pointless in the context of gaming systems.
