@@46thandBliss You’re right that in unplugged he SEEMED pretty jocular and chill. That said, by the accounts I’ve read he had to be pumped full of valium or something to stave off the withdrawals during the performance. There’s a section about it in Heavier Than Heaven. Which is a little bit odd, come to think of it. I’m a complete square and I’m fairly sure that even I could score some dope in NYC if I wanted to😆 Also, with the small, intimate audience for unplugged maybe he felt a little more at ease as opposed to playing in front of thousands in a stadium or whatever. Who knows.

@pierinocb

Yes, you are right they sound extremely synchronized but not because severe disciplined practice, if you listened carefully Cobain made a guitar sign , this means 0.5 seconds before the transition he played harmonic notes that sound really good and the same time, give the exactly time to Dave and Novoselic to change rhythm.

A lot of people knock on Kurt for his lack of technical skill on guitar. I myself learned how to play every part of this song when I had just gotten my first guitar at 15 in about 15 minutes or so (after getting past the 2-3 week stage of building up finger strength). But a few things on that. See how he's jumping around and falling over? Yeah...try playing this well while standing like a statue without fucking it up. He also was good enough to express himself with it. Sure, there are people on youtube who can nail Eruption by Eddy Van Halen perfectly while sitting on their bed...try writing a half decent punk song. Exactly. Kurt WAS a genius. He created something original and nirvana has millions upon millions of fans almost 30 years after Nevermind.

I've realy had an aneurysm in my brain, since I was born (as the prof said). Nobody knew about it, not even me. First it has caused me a stroke, just 2 weeks after our marriage. I have survived it. Then it has caused a tetraplegia in Sept 2015 (I was totally paralized), and many other problems. I was operated in my brain, the doctors had to cut it out. It was a real risky business, they gave me almost zero chance. Tho I have survived it, and after a long period of struggling, and a very hard rehabilitation I can move my upper body, and I can walk pretty good with a rollator. The other problems what I had are still with me (probably so long as I live), but NOBODY can take away my WILL of staying alive, and loving the best music, which means rock, and metal for me!!! 👍🤘🤗 I love Nirvana very much, and I wish Kurt could be with us again!! @@daniellem2929 It"s a pity, but it's true. I have had a heart operation too in 2012. Actually I have had a control meanwhile in Budapest. There I met a specialist, and he said I am suffering in Marfan Syndrome. Check it on Google! Have a nice day!!

There hasn't been a solid kick ass three piece band that had that much dynamic energy, stage presence, originality and over all quality since these guys. Their energy is maybe only paralleled with the who, pete did all the singing. If they had just came out new today, they would have been probably even more successful because of the lack of competition. Fricking awesome. Simply nirvana!!!

I think the reason they blew up was because of the new innovative sound at the time. However, I wish they were as if not more successful today, but that would be very hard considering today's mainstream demands are either cheap hip-hop or stupid, simple, throwaway love pop songs. Nirvana did it just at the right time. But today's music wouldn't let them, oh no.

@Nick West well good live performances is more about the emcee getting the crowd to participate, the dj being on point and having a good hype man to adlib you. Like how Dave does Kurt. Hip Hop puts you in the song differently than rock but can definitely still do it. Biz Markie, Rakim, Busta Rhymes, The Roots, Redman, The Wu Tang, are just a few that are really good live.

It is incredible how music has gotten so much worse in recent years, both at the sound level and at the level of originality, this was pure talent, passion and dedication, it can be palpable in every second of this performance. Now in today's music we only see posturing, copying what is fashionable, autotune, nonsense, clowning and getting rich to post on social networks how cool you are and the money and fame you have achieved, we will never return to this level.
