My favourite movie for around 20 years, Nirvana, represents the spiritual journey of awakening from my perspective. People have said that the Matrix copied many aspects of this film. Look at the title, "Nirvana." Jimmy and Joystick are on a spiritual quest together. I don't try to find consistency throughout the movie as the quest for awakening is often irrational. Look at how Jimmy gets sucked in by the imminent death of his father and when he meets his ex-girlfriend who actually died from cancer? He never really understood her and beautifully she began her own quest for awakening by moving to Marakesh. Solo is trying to help the woman wake up, but she is lost in the world of concepts and is incapable of understanding. Leaving her behind is not easy for Solo. There appear to be three stages of being awake: The NPCs that have no virus and the NPC that is beginning to question his reality. The awakening ones like Joystick and Jimmy. The simulation creators, Okosama Starr, who are manipulating everyone, similar to the Architect in the Matrix. If you have some type of mind practice, these aspects stand out. I am not saying any of this is true, but it is my understanding of this movie.
