Chad is a good drummer but he drags at some parts in this song, and he sort of plays flams when he does build ups. Chad was an inconsistent player live, but he was important to Nirvana as Dave was.

Agreed, his playing style is sorta weird, he goes from very stiff playing in the verses, to loose flams in the chorus build ups. Not say he's a bad drummer or anything though.

Undeniable Bill Ward influence on this track. Drumming wasn't always about being metronome perfect....tempo was used in the same way as dynamics, with slight slowdown when the playing got heavier and louder.

my PERSONAL opinion is that chad using the long rolls and double bass kinda threw kurt off the whole "punk" "minimalistic idea.

Even though Dave ultimately fit with Nirvana's sound a lot better he never came CLOSE to sounding as good as this version in the live performances of this song, this drumming is pure magic

@George Kamil No this track is recorded by Chad Channing he use doble pedal in some nirvana songs like this..and in live concerts he also use the doble. That´s what i know

i think the sloppyness adds to the feel of the song. if it was perfected like modern rock is, it wouldn’t be good :)

I love Chad, but Dave just has something about him. He's like a computer, only more perfectly in time! Chad is dirty and raw, which is perfect for smaller gigs, but Dave has the talent to play at Reading without a single flaw. Chad could never have done that - not as well as Dave
