What makes this song great, even unique for Kurt Cobain, is that it’s just a fun song. Kurt is remembered for these dark themed songs or pieces of poetry he would write and string together, but this one belongs with songs like “Sliver”. It even sounds like a song Foo Fighters would do in the late ‘90s. Something that would be put on a late ‘90s teen movie soundtrack.

He's using his vintage '69 Mustang from the Teen Spirit video here, it was his favorite guitar. He only had his Jag-Stang prototype for a few months in '94 on the In Utero tour when Pat Smear was in the band and he didn't like it much, he planned to have Fender make changes which never happened. They had just sent him some Japanese reissue Mustangs that his tech had modified to his specs (these are the guitars the Kurt Cobain signature Mustangs are based on) and he liked those more than the JS.

in the way that Black Francis might have listened to The Association? This Nirvana song does have an echo of that piece of “Here Comes Your Man” but in a different tempo and spot. But the verse of “Here Comes My Man” is almost dead on to “Never My Love” by The Association. I told this once to Black Francis when he was deflecting Kurt’s line about Teen Spirit being a Pixies rip off. He said he had heard the similarity on his own song vs Never My Love. His eyes widened when I pointed out Teen Spirit tracks parts of “More Than a Feeling” pretty close.

Shake it down easy, shake it down sleazy, come on Shake it down easy, shake yourself, Suzy, come on Don't let me detain you Try to ride along Don't you lie, knowing I am not sad I am not silly I am not chippin' I am not chippin' away Talk to me In your own language, please In your own Talk to me In your own language please Shake it down easy, make it sound seamy, doll man Make it sound now, make it full house, sad man Leader of the band Makes a mental hell I won't weather it well Well I never Saw it with my arm Paint it with my heart Paint it with my eyes and make it right Lay down easy, lay it down seamy, sad man Lay down easy, lay it down seamy, sad man You don't want to hear this Nothin' but a whore I will play the leader With pain Now you know I'm needy Lay them down easy Lay them down easy Talk to me In your own language please

The only disappointing thing about Nirvana's discography is that this song never got a proper studio recording.

Kurt gave this song to Iggy Pop. Wonder why he never recorded it.

Courtney gave it to him. Iggy pretty much said although I like Kurt's music, I only do my own songs.

tayjay00 Kurt played a festival with Iggy in 1990 and gave him 'Talk to me' then. Before Courtney was on the scene. Iggy has done a heap of covers plus duets with Kate Pierson and Peaches.

+twomindz79 in an interview iggy pop stated that it was after Kurt's death so I doubt Kurt would've offered it to him.
