Thanks for watching, guys! Does anyone know of any other cars that hold their value like the GT-R has? The Supra comes to mind, but that's about it.

love the videos man, I am an internet sales manager for a Nissan dealer here in GA and actually own a 2017 GT-R myself! Considering an Audi R8 but the way the GT-R holds its value so well is making it difficult for me to trade it

What a great choice to be considering. I really like the design on the new R8, such a defined and aggressive look.

I think you need to consider the annual JPY/USD foreign exchange rates for your depreciation theory. In 2008 USD69,500 was roughly JPY 7,500,000. In 2009 JPY6,500,000 In 2010 JPY6,000,000 In 2011 JPY 5,500,000... as you can see due to the strengthening of the Japanese Yen Nissan needed to boost prices in order to maintain a certain profit as I assumed they didn't hedge their FX rates.

In addition to the points you mentioned I think they hold their value because its the cheapest "supercar" you can buy and its hard to tell the older models apart from the new ones. They have gone very light touch on the refresh cosmetics. It still turns heads. Non car people may not now why but it turns heads and is really fast.

Loved the video. One thing I would like to add is, after the R36 comes out, I think we probably won't see much of a drop, the reason being that R36 is expected to be $150k with hypercar performance. Meaning anyone wanting to get into a GTR who cannot afford $150k will be looking for the R35. Also the R35 is one of the last Tuner supercars left.

I think the DBAs perform better than the newer EBAs. Luxury makes the EBAs a better choice, while performance makes the older DBAs better.

Most people sell their GTR's to buy a newer one. It is amazing how you can find an 09 going for the same price a 13 is going for. The difference? mods! mods don't add value? wrong, not with the GTR. I purchased my GTR because of the mods done to it. Cheaper than sourcing each part individually. Another thing that blew my mind recently. A member had an 09....He spent 13k and his 09 looks identical to a MY'17.

Yessir, I know that commercial. Its very nice. Btw, there is a 2012 Audi R8 V10 in Texas thats selling for 100k. It only has one thousand miles on it. Practically new. I would of gotten it if I could at the moment. Just came at a really bad time for me.

I'd check out Subaru STi's, Focus RS, and Golf R sometime. I sold my WRX and purchased an RS because I thought it would hold it's value even better. I'd be interested to see what you could find out.

Congrats on the RS, that's a beautifully crafted hatch.....not to mention a powerhouse! I think you're on the right track in thinking it will hold it's value over the long term. Time will tell after it's been out for 3-4 years, but I think there is a good chance you're correct.

Interesting video. Which starts my brain on another track. As the low price option to a Skyline, I wonder what the value of the Silvia S15 have in stock for its future. They been driven hard for at least 17 years now and I heard talks that they will increase in value from exporters. With the 25 year ban lift for the U.S. market, will that do stuff to the price or will they have fallen to oblivion by then, or drowned in muscle car options. My question, is there a way to measure if the S15 is growing in value? Would love some thoughts on the matter.

I'm sorry but fan boys have caused the GTR to increase in price year after year with very little changes since 2009. Nissan did not have to improve ride quality or create.a new design because.... they didn't have to when people continued to buy the GTR as is with reckless fanaticism. . Sometimes we car enthusiasts can become our own worse enemy driving up prices on depreciating items like cars. Case in point look at the Ford Mustang GT 350 and 350R and how much people were paying over sticker for a Mustang. Now one major recall and one class action lawsuit later by Ford Mustang GT 350 and 350R owners and my neighbor is selling his GT 350 with 11,000 miles on it and taking a bath after paying 10 grand over sticker... He is pissssssed. Try trading in a modified Nissan GTR and see how that work out . You would no longer think they hold their value that's for sure.. The dealer will them turn around and drastically mark it up to the market value. (Retail Price).. .

Dosnt matter if the price depreciates because if you buy a used GTR chances are there will be problems with it and you will be paying full price for that new part. Buy a used one for 50k then have to replace a 15k transmission it dosnr make sense. If you have the money get one but if you are looking for one used to get it cheaper then you will be screwed in the end when all the matinence fees catch up with you.

+Tyler Hoeve so you'd just buy a new one with the warranty? I'm not too familiar with Nissans certified preowned program. I wonder what all it covers.

@alrod9535

From what I hear, it's not certified pre-owned if the car gets the slightest ever so small modification. The warranty is also void mechanically. So you then get a limited warranty on everything besides mechanical. I'll have to check with Nissan North America to confirm but this is the information I get from the dealer. You also cannot launch the car with the VDC off. This will also void warranty. I would get the extended warranty on a used just to be safe even though it's more expensive. The tranny replacement has also been an overhyped issue. It really depends on the owner's neglect, driving patterns and storage vs usage. The car is meant to be driven and driven like a racecar, not like a grandpa. If you keep the car in storage for long periods, you will have to change out fluids and still maintain the car from that period of non-usage. It is a very complex car and needs attention. It's not a buy it and forget it kind of car. You should buy a prius if you want that kind of thing.

AntiLag BoostAddiction so you just assume every used GTR will need a transmission replacement, even say ones with less than 20k miles? Are you really that stupid. My cousin owns a 2014 GTR premium, he bought it with 22k miles over a year ago for 70 thousand dollars and since then had put 15k miles on it and all he's had to do is replace the brakes and tires and keep up with maintenance and in the past year all he's had to pay is 4K and it still runs like new.

transmission issues are dead since new software updates and TSB clips installed, own a 2008 and has only required perishables like brake pads and tires other than a regular oil changes all these years, its a nissan after all..it has 600hp btw

You don't know basic math. A GT-R with 8,000 miles on it on AutoTrader had $20k depreciation... that means that idiot spent at minimum $2.50 a mile to drive that car. That's fooking insane.

TasteMyStinkhole. I really like The GTR but, the Ford GT 350 and 350 GTR, the Corvette Grandsport, the Camaro ZL1 have far better ride quality, better bang for the buck, newer technology, killer looks, similar performance numbers or very close. Cars are worth what people are willing to pay for them so car enthusiasts can jack up car prices out of fan boyism leaving the car overrated and overpriced for years to come to their own fault. Examples Acura NSX, Toyota Supra. They were good for their time but now???????? Would you spend 70 to 80 for a NSX when they have some of the baddest current cars on the planet that you could put that towards. Amg GT S, Corvette Z06, soon coming ZR1, GT 500 soon coming, GT350R, Camaro ZL1, Used Porsche 911 Turbo.. BUT INSTEAD , We BUY An over priced used very unrefined GTR, 2009-2016. Nissan don't have to reduce the price, the used car market don't have to reduce the prices, Nissan don't have to refine the car from 09 to 16 because you will buy it as is and will not require anything more of their product. They can sell the same exact design for 8 years have antiquated interior and cheap material because...... They can
