Trying to have enough solar/battery for cooling when living in a hot climate is difficult at best. My system/batteries makes it till 2am and then I use the grid. I’m using grid tie inverters that use batteries. You might want to think about swamp cooler technologies because you live in a dry climate. They use a lot less power.. I live in a hot humid climate or I would use swamp coolers.

I thought 20,640W would be enough. Not in cloudy Kentucky.

Yeah. It would be enough if it wasn't above 110F everyday here. Haha.

I am planing to buy a used leaf and get a solar system to charge the car battery. (My only requirement is to charge the car battery) What type of solar should I select (generation capacity wise) and how long will it takes to charge my car?

That's a very broad question. It will depends on which Leaf are you getting (because of different size in battery size, 24kwh, 40kwh or 60kwh. Obviously also depends on how much you drive and how frequently you want to charge it. :)

@@devildestiny555 Thanks for the feedback and sorry I couldn't be more specific. I found your video during my EV search. I'm thinking of going for 2012/13 model with 40kwh battery. I need to use this as my daily driver for weekdays. The range of 100km (62 mills) per charge is enough for me for week (20km per day x 5 days) and I can charge the car during weekends.

@@LAChinthaka 70miles per day / 4kw per mile = 17.5kwh a day. So you need enough Solar to make at least 20-22kwh a day (compensate for AC conversion loss). Depends how sunny your location is, for Arizona during summer time, my 10kw array produce about 56kwh a day. So I would say you need at least 6kw of solar... 7kw to have extra.

Are the mpp solar inverters still working?

Kind of. One is still working well, but one did burn up, the main board burn up and stops working. Luckily I had a spare main board bought way back and kept it and replaced, work again now.
