I purchased this bible recently, Amazon had a steep discount. The leather and edge line construction is great quality. It's my largest study Bible in terms of width , but fits nicely in my lap during service. God bless 🙏🏻

The Niv study bible that compared it with in this video looked more appealing...the contrasting colors rather than the gold. But I'd need to read some of the notes to know if I'd like to buy it or not. I use the Esv RSB, so I really don't need another one.

I like this bible. I call it the Superman bible. I like the navy color. That is my favorite color on a bible. The notes are such that they won’t distract you from text, but are helpful when needed. I will be purchasing.

I will probably not purchase this particular Study Bible, though I love Dr. Mohler and his ministry. I just wouldn’t use another Study Bible in physical form. However, I do plan to get the notes in e-form on one of my Bible software programs when it is available. All around though, it’s a beautiful Bible, and I hope it’s successful! A question: I appreciate your detail in covering how the notes are laid out, and how they tend to be clumped together rather than individual notes for each verse. I am wondering if this is mostly in sections like the Prophets and other OT portions, where it would be helpful to give the “Big Picture,” or is it this way even in the New Testament, where more details would be desirable?

Great concept for sure. As a Baptist, for me it's cool. To be honest, the Bible itself seems a little distracting because of the color scheme. Seems kind of all over the place. I wish there was an ESV version in black leather.

Thank you for your very helpful review. Yes, I am thinking this might be the one I will pick for my 14 year old Grandson. He is just starting to want to read the Bible and I felt this would be a better study bible for one just starting out. I was also thinking maybe I should just start him out with a reference bible. What do you think. I would love to hear your experienced opinion. Thank you

I do like some of the aesthetic risks they took with the boldness of the cardinal and some other "out of the box" decisions like page art and the fleur de lis. I find it rather refreshing. Interesting about the grouping of the study notes. As long as the context is good I'm not sure I'd mind, but may rely on my other study Bibles to supplement. That's a big concordance! I do think I will buy it. I really enjoy having a few study Bibles to glean from. Not sure if I'll buy the premium or a different version tho. Always great to see you and awesome review!

The construction of the Grace and Truth study Bible is really nice, and I was actually flipping through it at a bookstore today and I really liked the layout with the gold added in. I thought it gave the comfort print a classy feel. I would probably not buy it because I just don’t think I need another study Bible. I’ve also gotten a sour taste in my mouth ab Al Mohler recently anyways, which I’m sure colors my opinion. I have no doubt it would be helpful, but I already think there are enough good study Bibles out there for me.

I really like this Bible from watching the review. I’d buy it. My main reason is the goatskin looks amazing. Saying that, RAISED HUBS FOR DAYS! Also diggin the cardinal red and blue. NIV study bibles has always been solid in my opinion.

I kind of like the plain spine, I think the Grace and Truth insignia looks great but for such a busy Bible, that being the blue with red(which looks great), having a plain spine is kind of refreshing IMO.
@BeauTate
3 жыл бұрын
That's a good point... I think, aside from the color difference, it just looks the same... I think they maybe could have created a simple symbol or something different to set it apart. The MacArthur SB was very creative with the spine by removing "Holy Bible" and adding the Horizontal Mac Study Bible logo to the center of the spine. Something like that would have definitely been more eye catching. But I get what you are meaning and completely respect your opinion and appreciate of how they did it.

@@BeauTate I see what you mean, something to differentiate the outside of the Bible from other Bibles of its likeness, that makes sense. I have a thing for understated beauty and items that stand out without announcements, but I can agree with that premise that in a market which is more and more saturated something on the outside to differentiate it may have been good especially from a marketing perspective.

@@BeauTate could you comment, briefly, on the general theological theme of the study notes? Does it take a specific stand theologically, or does it stay more neutral? More specifically…does it lean reformed? It is my understanding that Mohler is reformed, and I think it would be great to have a resource which can be described as “Baptist” have a more reformed perspective.
@BeauTate

@@iancampbell1494 Yeah, that is mainly my point. I still think it looks great. I love how Zondervan uses a much smaller font for their spine imprinting because I love that understated look as well, but from a marketing standpoint, being able to stand out and be a little different is usually to the publisher's advantage.

I believe in the perseverance of the saints, because our faith is a gift from God and we are saved for His namesake. Ezekiel 36:16-38 is one of my favorite passages which specifically speaks to God's motivation for giving us salvation by faith through Jesus Christ. It is for His own glory that HE saves. And if salvation is not earned or merited, then it is not something that can be lost or demerited.

The large yapp will be prone to bending and wear, a definite disadvantage. Also, the content is more devotional than theological, so don't expect lots of factual material. Better to get the hardcover edition.

It is a beautiful Bible. I am not a huge fan of the NIV as is the general editor of this study bible. The Cover, guilding and page's are simply gorgeous. The cosmetics of this Bible are awesome. However, I believe that there are better study bibles out for Southern Baptist and other pre trib dispensational denominations such as the Rock of Ages Study Bibles. I just received one to do a review. But it was not the color that I ordered. So it will go back and the review will be delayed a lweek or two. Thanks for the review Beau.

First hearing about it I was skeptical because of where it’s coming from and what’s been going on there right now. However I do respect Albert Mohler and so had hopes. From your description and observations on the scope and topics covered I would consider getting it. The grouping of verse notes reminds me of the ESV gospel transformation study Bible which is also a thematic setup.

There are several things that I really like about this, however I don’t think it is something that I will end up getting. I do hope that some of the features in this study Bible will be used in other study Bibles, particularly the construction materials and the color. Although the notes appear to be fairly even-handed, I tend to like more scholarly study Bibles than this appears to be. I would also prefer he slightly more formal text in a study Bible.

I like the Bible just to have another perspective on Scripture. I wouldn’t buy the premium though because I just can’t afford to do so at this time. I was a little surprised by the split in the leather though. I guess if they do it in their other Bibles it’s fine but it is a little weird to me. That navy + cardinal really pops! I agree that some of the little details of the aesthetic are off (like that silver ribbon), but overall, still a nice package for God's Word. I don't use study Bibles much and I'm not a collector, so I wouldn't buy it for myself, but I may buy one for a friend of mine who pastors "Grace & Truth Community Church," which is an SBC church. I personally would not buy this Bible especially after your more detailed review: for me there just isn't enough features (similar to the Spurgeon Bible) ...it would make it more worthwhile if it had extensive articles / excerpts from their sermons or books on major Biblical themes or theological points (similar to the ESV Study on the the Godhead) Love the red though!
