I never thought so many people wanted to work in a prison. I love watching their reactions to the OC spray. I know it sucks! Mine didn't hit me for about 20 seconds and then it was awful. And regular officers aren't going to do cell extractions. The CRT team does that.

Kelly Anderson, I retired from Hudson County D.O.C. back in 2015 with 28 years of service. At least I made it to the finish line where now I can enjoy my retirement. But as a friendly reminder to everyone law enforcement is not only about municipal police. It's about State, county, or municipal law enforcement officers, State, county, or municipal park police officers, State or county correctional police officers, sheriff's officers, parole officers, State Troopers, State Human Services Police Officers, County prosecutor's detective or investigator, Housing Authority Police Officers, Port Authority Police Officers, Railway Police Officers all of these law enforcement titles I mention are all law enforcement officers with different job tactics.

I hated Corrections. Worked there for 2 months and I knew this wasn’t for me. I immediately got certified by a big city PD. Got so much experience working there for 2 years. I’m now in the state police academy. It’s super intense I respect COs. A few friends I know are there and they love it. I know the bs you all have to handle there but I just prefer police

Where do you get your information? I got news for you, SOG isn't doing cell extractions unless it's absolutely necessary. REGULAR officers are going to do them. We just did one in our detention building just last week and it wasn't CRT/SOG.

Ok, I’m gonna make an unpopular proposition. I get it, I’m a loser, a pansy, some guy who’d never make it- whatever. But, with all due respect, the whole bald thing for guys is ridiculous. Look, if you wanna start all the guys off the same like the military and buzz their heads, go for it. Same for preventing initial lice transmission. Set a standard with the no facial hair (considering the need for mask fitting)- I’m all for it. But, after that, having to shave your head everyday is a waste of time, waste of money, good way to get a sunburn or razor infection, demoralizing, and not pragmatic. There are 50 other more productive ways to instill discipline- so long as their hair is within dress code per NJDOC after first day, the initial req is ridiculous. And you know what, if the bic’d head is a necessary pre-req for making a competent NJDOC officer, then I’m genuinely scared of the program. Because the Navy Seals don’t do it, the Rangers don’t, and no other top tier entity in the world mandates it to that extent. Ok rant over.

@@Maddawg31415 well, the list is pretty much exhausted however someone in this thread said they just took the test which is weird because the DOC had made an announcement last year that they were basically forgoing both the test and the academy right away because of staffing issues. 2nd, the salary has stagnated to the point that NJDOC went from one of the top correction salaries in the state to one of the bottom. Throw in the fact that new recruits have to do 30 years AND that the inmate loving state has tied our hands and made us pretty much benign, there's no incentive to do this job anymore. Everything I've said here is 100% correct.
