I have a 1941 ishapore, but its a GRI (George Rex Imperator), so fell under the British guidelines and resources. Awesome to shoot, love it.

I just bought a 1918 Enfield. I'm no expert, so I don't know much about it. It looks great and rifling looks pretty solid too, but I would love to know more about its history. It's humbling to watch WW1 documentaries while sitting in the same room with this thing. Amazing connection to history. Humbling, to be honest.

The cleats on the British rifle's sling are on backwards. Drift the front sites on both, a little to the left.

Problem with alot of enfields are the sights. I have a '65 ishapore jungle copy in 308, I scouted her with 2.75 fixed burris (the m1a scout mount fits it) took the group at a hundred yds from 5-6" to consistent 2".

@@45AlfaCharliePapa Hi, I am Sankar, being from India, I know a little about RFI. You would be surprised that local police still use 1950s made RFI .303s. Up until 1963, the Indian army used RFI .303 as standard issue rifle (the government with Gandhi, peace and all that essentially wanted to do away with the Indian army and underinvested)! We got clobbered by the Chinese in 1962 when they came in with Soviet PPSh41 and the veritable Izhmash AK variants. Well that's another story. Indian cops aren't as well armed as in the US especially in low crime states such as where I come from in India. I once went to a police station (2010s) and the sentry had a .303 with the initials "GRI - Georgius Rex Imperator" i.e. that particular .303 was made in the time of King George, Queen Elizabeth's dad! So the Ishapores are still kicking. The cool ones are the ones in ceremonial police parades with WW1 era bayonets, the national caded corps in India (advanced boy scouts) uses this for target practice and basic training on weapons handling!

The Ishapore Enfields had a more automated manufacturing process because India didn't have the amount of skilled labor like Britain. India's wood ran the gauntlet from Rosewood to Teak, often reusing British Walnut. I find the Ishapores are of equal quality.

You are right about the tooling. The ishapore factory was mostly manufactured products based on standard gauges but using calibrated machines not human hands. It was a war time necessity and ww2 required huge amounts

Please do not refer to weapons as English, they are British. It's a common error from our ex colonial friends but please stop it. However if referring to sporting guns you can call them English same with silver. Only joking interesting vid.

Thanks for that clarification. Having been born in the outskirts of London I should have known. (LOL) In my defense I only spent the first year of my life in country before being dragged kicking and screaming to the USA. Thanks for watching.
