I have seen this mistake time and time again and am SO glad that you brought it up. It is counter-intuitive because of how students have been trained before law school and great that students know how law professors read the "brain dump".

Coming from an economics background, I'm an expert at "brain dump" during a test or exam and assignments. Now I understand what cost me points on some papers. Thank you!

Glad that I was able to help you understand. I wish more professors provided this kind of feedback before exams.

Not even sure I want to go to law school as I have somewhat of a Heinz 57 variety of education and experience, but subscribed because your presentations are concise and thoughtful. Thank you!

I try to apply this to real life debates, but I find any detail I don't mention, someone will bring up and then I have to address it. On the other hand, if I say too much, people don't pay attention to everything I say and I wasted my breath. Even worse, each detail I add only branches out to require more details. I envy those who can say a lot with few words.

take an engineering college exam (or any STEAM Major) and try an information dump - hint: It does not work. Yes, with a STEAM Major the essay writing skills will not be as trained as with a different major, but for how often lawyers say that the college major does not matter for law school, I am surprised how many assumption about students are still specific to a group of college major subjects.
