“Neil, I’m gonna rescue you, but first of all… I’m gonna rescue myself” the time and effort they must’ve spent pulling off that whole bathroom sequence.

ITV wasn't allowed in our house when I was a kid. Except for Thursdays when me & Dad watched Minder when the others were down the Kingdom Hall having a "Meeting".

That boom operator at 41:35 had better watch out or he'll end up falling down to the lounge! Seriously, I always wondered how the bathroom and the cellar were laid out in the studio. Looks like they got rigged up a second bath here to make it seem Neil is actually hanging above the lounge.

The bath sequence is like a stage play! 🛀🏾 Bet Neil wasn’t as keen to appear with his top off as Nick/Harry, who seemed to frequently! Harry was seen in the bath a few times, then a caller wanted his shirt on a phone in game where they could pick items from the house as a prize or was it stuff to go in the junk trunk. Even when the gang presented the CITV links in summer ‘84 Harry got drenched by the others, in his swimshorts. Not sure it was scripted but he gave them the finger, mustn’t have realised the camera was still rolling! 😂

So this was Samantha's final episode. Well, at least she had a good send-off. I guess I was wrong about there being a second prop, with a different body. What I was remembering was that dress they put around it. I'm sure though they dressed it that way in earlier episodes.

Do you have the one where the builder gets stuck in some cement or something, I was featured on a brick pick and won a load of records. Used to live this show, I would write in and they would always reply

The TVS Saturday morning team definitely followed the Blue Peter rule of replying to every letter as I wrote to Motormouth a couple of times and they replied then too, even though my letters never made it on air.

Such a shame Martin and Hazel left after this. From what little I've seen of series 8, No 73 was literally never the same again after this.
@paulmorris2825
Ай бұрын
It's a great shame they left - but personally I don't think their departure marks the end of the show as we know it... After all, there are a lot of people who say it was never the same after series 6 when Sandi Toksvig left (and given how much she contributed, with some justification!) But series 7 and 8 are IMO very similar tonally. There are a few other cast changes (arguably for the better), the best of them being new neighbour Hamilton Dent. You should give it a chance ;)

@@paulmorris2825series 7 was the last good year of the show, even without Sandi. Series 8 just felt like it was on death row (which it was) and the introduction of additional random characters just felt like they didn't have any interesting stories left to tell.

For this last Saturday episode of Series 7, sophisti-pop group Curiosity Killed the Cat occupy the cellar. They play their current hit "Ordinary Day", at its chart peak of No.11 this week. They close the show with their self-titled song. Both songs are from their debut album _Keep Your Distance._ Final appearances of Richard Addisson and Jeannie Crowther as Martin and Hazel Edwards, they move out of No. 75 between series. Also the last appearance of Samantha T.E.L.E.B.U.G. and the final appearance of Katie Copstick as either Maisie or the voice of Samantha. 41:36 Boom in, not Boom Operator in! Gaz Top and Charlotte from _Get Fresh_ literally dropping in and destroying the shed in the process to promote the new series starting in a couple of Saturdays time (and the new Sunday episodes) - the first two weeks of series 2 coming from inside the Millennium Dustbin (in reality from Border Television's studios in Carlisle). PS. Hi Graham from the NOW Collectors group! 👋

I think Charlotte got her dates wrong I think it was only the first week that was studio bound as the following week 25th April it was live in Aberdeen, I know this as my Dad took us down to see it as it just down the road from our house, the Proclaimers were there making their first ever national TV appearance.

@@pipoo1 No, 25th April was when _Get Fresh_ returned with two weeks of _Get Ready for Get Fresh_ made at Border Television. First live OB episode of Series 2 of _Get Fresh_ was on 9th May 1987, also produced by Border Television, from Sheepmount Athletics Stadium in Carlisle. The one you mention, from Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre (produced by Grampian) with The Proclaimers was on 6th June 1987. That's the date Gaz Top gives in the description for this video anyway: kzitem.info/news/bejne/mJmA4I1jhoaHhXo

@@antster1983ok wow, talk about tricks of the mind, I always thought that edition was April 25th as I always had in my memory it was the same weekend as my birthday. Hadn’t actually seen that clip before, the Exhibition and Conference centre is also now long gone, replaced by the much bigger TECA venue on the other side of the city.
