I’m also becoming increasingly irritated by consumerism content and advertising

Right, it's everywhere - and I really dislike how it's more and more present in content that's not designated as an ad!

I highly recommend the podcast If Books Could Kill, which very funnily and chattily goes through popular airport books like the productivity genre among others, points out their contradictions and how thinly sourced they often are. Like an influencer talking up a sweater to benefit from the affiliate link, many of those books aren’t helpful long-term because they’re mainly written to pad out enough pages with generalizations that the author gets a segment on the morning TV shows and residuals.

I've added this to my queue for car-commute listening, this looks like such a fun podcast, thank you so much for the recommendation! Possibly regrettably, I have got a couple more "productivity" books on my reading list for now... but I'm still optimistic that I might act on some of the advice this time? Haha we'll see...

The Mars/Venus and Love Languages book episodes are especially funny/infuriating

@@emmy8526 omg I can imagine - I read that one years ago and it is one of the more ridiculous ones, also I saw they did an episode "A Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck" and I actually read a few pages of that one and couldn't finish even a chapter 😅

We use our Amazon Prime quite a bit, and it comes with the streaming channel so for us it’s worth it. Unfortunately “prime” now can be 5 day shipping (!) so that’s bad, but it evens out for us. We do still have Costco but I can see that falling by the wayside once the kids are out of college and don’t need stocked up.

Wow I thought the standard for Prime was the 2-day shipping, so that's interesting to know.

I use the library, Hoopla and and a couple of others that I don’t need to actually purchase the books.

Same, I have been enjoying reading E-books using the Libby library app these days!

I’ve been using Libby and Hoopla through my local library for digital books to read or listen to-it’s totally free-since you enjoy Kindle-style as well, check it out. Totally free.🥰👍 I totally agree with you on the video titles-I thought it was just me - the crazy, extreme titles give me the vibe of the tabloid journalism like The Enquirer!😆 next up “I was kidnapped by aliens and they shared their top 10 secret Amazon favorites!” 😆

I love the Libby app! Just run into issues sometimes with popular titles having waitlists 6 months long sometimes! Haha kidnapped by aliens 😆
