Hey Kat, I recently immigrated to Finland from Italy (Italia) and your videos are being a lifesaver as I have to learn everything about this wonderful country, I now live in Espoo and it's a very good city. I'm slowly picking up finnish from your videos and hopefully in time I'll become a true integrated suomalainen, kiitos paljoon! 🇫🇮🇮🇹

Wow this video helped me much bc I didn't knew the difference betwen the sentences with and without -isi suffix, thank you Kat!

I like the isi-thing. As a Finn, I sometimes recommend that to people that "command" me. Isi is also a common word for isä as in father, so you don't want to missuse it. And I just understood how difficult our language is.

@@KatChatsFinnish They already are! I just registered for a Finnish course in Paris, but due to my professional situation and current location, I'll have to do it remotely. So I think your video will be a great addition to course material!

Great video as always 🙏 I will leave my Finnish broadcasts to the better speakers on my radio station though 😆 I’m still at basic 1.3 level 🙈

What is the rule with “isi”? 🤔 Do we just add it before the “t/ko - t/kö” ending?
@engrammi

Yes, before the personal form and any other clitics at the end, just like you said.

it could also sound like you are a bit angry. We usually use it when we demand a child to do something. I would not use it with adults

What about "olkaa hyvä"?
@Avalozir
20 күн бұрын
That's the formal/plural form of reply when someone thanks you (basically "you're welcome") or something you say when you give something to someone (again fairly formal). A little bit less formal in the singular form would be "ole hyvä".
