I've been watching a lot of these videos lately, ( Other Channels Too ) , and I never see anyone working on a RUUD. That is what I have and in 5 years it has never given me any trouble. Of Course, I installed it myself, so I know it was 99.9 % done neat and correct....I'm guessing RUUD is a good product?

I have been running HVAC service in the snow for 37 years. I love it lol. I even go out on NO Heat calls in Blizzards using chains on my rear tires . We did not get any snow from that storm that you guys got . With all the rain we had this year I bet we are going to have a lot of snow this winter.Don't forget the shoe covers lol. \m/\m/...

Man you really do have a lot of HVAC systems in crawl spaces in SC. I haven't seen a crawl space in 2-3 years in Baltimore Maryland as we have homes with 90% basements. I did go on a 80% Gas Furnace in a attic yesterday for the first time in maybe 5-7 years. I thought I was having a Ted Cook flashback video happening because the furnace was actually standing up which is very rare to see in Baltimore Maryland lol. I see a lot of heat pump air handlers in attics with 2-3 zone systems but seeing a gas furnace in a attic is very rare in my neck of the city lol.

Any fool can fix things with a tool bag full of tools.. It takes a wizard to do repairs with as many tools as he can carry on one hand. "Never give your competitor the opportunity to come behind you and show the home owner..." Well said !! When you're in the business of making a living by throwing your competition under the bus it's a good incentive for doing things right.. Those who live by badmouthing the competition die by the same means. What goes around, comes around. Dogs eating dogs!

In my opinion, at times, the dumbest feature on modern vehicles is traction control. Unless you have a button to turn it off, once stuck in snow, will stay stuck in snow. It's been my experience it keeps the engine from spinning the wheels beyond like 20 MPH with no load.
@TedCookHVAC

Absolute junk that option. Nothing like seeing something stuck with real snow tires on it because the car won't let them spin a little. The worst is when the vehicle decides on its own to re-enable it because you're spinning a bunch (I'm looking at you Honda...)

I don't think it mattered which wire was hot from the perspective of the inducer motor. From the perspective of the furnace, the polarity is everything. Maybe there is a planet in the universe where mechanics design the office for architects in wet damp crawls. New code in my county won't let them be installed in crawls spaces anymore. They will have to give up four square feet of real estate in the house. Not bad for a Sunday but the next guy might have a problem with getting the correct inducer.

a slightly safer way to test which wire is "hot" hook one wire to the motor and ground the other motor wire to the case/ground wire, if it runs you have the hot hooked to it. this assumes the unit is actually "earth" grounded properly though. and how many are lol?

Why in the hell do so many builders in the south put HVAC equipment in the crawlspace? Seriously, they put expensive equipment in a cool/cold dark place that is filthy and prone to mold. How stupid is that? Why not put in in the attic, utility room, or garage in basment-less houses. Judging from the homes you show, it probably wouldn't be any CLEANER than the crawlspace, but hopefully it would be drier.
