I don't know, really. I've kept my eye on NMS since it was announced, and they delivered exactly what they promised. Regarding MMO element...not having it is pretty much the same to me as having astronomically small chance of finding a friend in it. I have no clue why and how people got the notion of this "Skyrim(job) in space" thing, when there was never any mention of it. In fact, I remember Devs advertising that loneliness and solitude you'll get to experience. And do name one single game, that is not a shooter, that doesn't have a grind element? All MMOs certainly have it, and then some. Plus, grind in NMS is not really a grind, since you simply go and find what you need for specific tech you wanna build. There's no hoarding, or very little of it, due to the lack of storage space. So yeah, I have no idea why all the negative feedback and how people got the notion the NMS should have delivered something more than what they did and said since day one. Fucking love the game.

They thought it would be different because they marketed it differently. Like they barely touched on the survival aspect of the game and it's a rather large part. So yeah if you tell me it's a Reese's but it's actually Hershey's I'm alittle upset. They are similar and both chocolate but it's still not honest. They promoted a product and gave us something similar but slightly different.

Seriously, and most of the criticism I've seen leveled at it was more along the lines of "it's kind of meh," rather than "I wish I could shoot more stuff." So far any gameplay videos I've seen of it suggest the same to me, I just find it kind of underwhelming.
@Aeradom2000

I don't quite know what they mean by "call of duty" in space. I mean for me my biggest disappointment with the game is that the multiplayer is basically non-existant and the developers won't actually be clear what's going on with it. I was really looking forward to linking up with a friend and exploring the galaxy together. But wasn't really looking to running around shooting a bunch of aliens...

first of all, great vid, helped out a lot :) And second. you mentioned that, while you are having conversations in no man's sky with alien lifeforms, that you only get one chance before having to find carbon. although this is true if you answer them or pick a choice at a monolith, it is not a 100% true statement. this being because on playstation (not sure controls for p.c) all you need to do is press circle and you can leave the conversation or monolith and come back later to give them an answer or pick a choice in a monolith. if you are ever lost to what an alien or monolith is saying I highly suggest pressing circle, parking your ship near the monolith or an alien to work as a map marker so you dony get lost. then go out and learn their language more "via knowledge stones" and go back to continue after you get a better idea what they are saying. this also gives you a "quest" or "objective" and can spice up your gameplay a bit having to rely on your planet without your ship.

I don't know if this tip was specifically addressed but if you hit the melee button almost at the same time engage your jet pack you'll move faster than when you normally just sprint. Make sure you have enough fuel to cushion your landing though or you'll take damage. Also don't go picking up every resource you see. Especially early in game, inventory management is extremely vital with the limited space you start with.

IF YOUR AT THE BOTTOM OF A LAKE AND TRYING TO GET OUT IN A HURRY (DROWNING) JUST LOOK DOWN AND PULL BACK (MOVE TOWARD THE WATER SURFACE WHILST LOOKING DOWN) AND PRESS YOUR JET PACK BUTTON AT THE SAME TIME. another one that I found useful is IF YOU NEED TO TRAVEL THROUGH OR ACROSS WATER IN A HURRY, JET PACK OUT OF THE WATER AND WHILE FALLING DOWN PRESS FORWARD AND HOLD THAT WHILE BACK IN THE WATER. YOU'LL FIND YOURSELF MOVING 3x AS FAST THAN IF YOU WERE JUST WADING THROUGH. oh.... and your all welcome. water has been my demise too many times.

it actually seems kind of random. in order to talk to the Gek (i think that's what his species is called? the smaller guy) you have to have achieved certain milestones that change each time you successfully talk to him. luckily those specific milestones seem to stay the same even if you dont currently have them and end up getting another anomaly. im stuck at the one where i need level 5 cash, i buy too many damn inventory upgrades haha. but anyway as someone previously stated in the comments, you can find random drop pods on planets that contain inventory upgrades. works just the same as the ones on the space stations, only they're less likely to be found of course. what im curious about is if the same alien gives out the atlas pass 2 or 3. i still need those :/

Some of the huge monoliths (ones with the 3 language stones and the staircase) are glitchy for me on PS4. Glitchy like being able to walk through the walls on the sides of the staircase. And in some of the caves, I can walk right through the stalagmites and stalactites, especially where the cave narrows (where you're not suppose to be able to fit through anyways). It's pretty cool though because you can see the actual cave layout that way, see how they connect or see other cave layouts, see exits/entrances

From what I've been able to gather, if you like a sense of exploring, and seeing what crazy things you can find, broken up by occasional combat and piecing together of several intertwining lore stories then it might be a good game for you. If you enjoy narrative rich stories that pace out the action to give a variety of activities that you can engage in just long enough to not get bored before the next one comes along then it might not before you. I haven't played it yet but based on the streams I've seen the game really is about seeing what kind of cool creatures, planets, and ships you can find while trying to piece together the relationships between the various races and factions while trying to figure out the mysteries of the Atlas and the center of the universe. That's really it, which is cool if thats your thing. Its a novel, not an action comic.

Most people hate it are on PC. Where the game doesn't work. Like it really doesn't. Worst than the last batman port.

It does seem like a cool game, but I've decided not to get it, not from reviews or what people been saying just as I think I won't like it. Do I think it's crap? No. I can see why people love it.

You've essentially paid 60 dollars for 1/5th of what Fallout 4 was, but even that at least let you fuckin' build something with your resources. Even with Destiny's shitty exploration and material grinding, there was a payoff that was made use of. Even Proteus, a literal walking simulator, didn't have the nerve to blatantly misdirect your expectations for the sake some bullshit mystery that doesn't even exist. Come down to the fact that this generation is so starved for games any indie over hyped shit is welcomed with open arms

If you're using your beam as weapon is Space combat against ships, only the initial impact causes damage. Don't hold the beam for a long time, give X quick taps and ships go down much faster.

The game is honestly 1000000000000 miles wide and 1 mile deep. Sure maybe the planets are "Different" but they have the exact same characteristics with different colors. I also didn't realize they would solely focus on mining as opposed to combat and real exploration which isn't going to nearly identical planets again and again and mining the exact same elements to get to the next planet to do the exact same thing. Rinse and Repeat.

The suit upgrades are far from rare...i found at least 5 on my home planet ALONE. Find a beacon and search for shelters...these will be what often pop up (drop pad)!

The suit upgrade on planets are not rare. I found several planets where i get 5-10 slots in minutes, i could stand beside one and see another one in the distance. Just find a pretty rocky planet with no animals and almost no plants, then just fly around and you will find these big droppods with suit upgrade:) just makebsure to have a bit of money.

Just saying, No Man's Sky has a jet pack, where the hell you at GTA 5?
I love the game. I fucking hate the crashing everytime I play for 15 minutes. I got it on release day for ps4, played the first two days glitch free then all of a sudden it'll just error code now. I wanna sit down and play for hours but.. I get frustrated after 2 crashes

Without going through all the comments to see if this was hit, I'm gonna throw these few nuggets of info out there: 1) search for "shelter" at the beacon things to find drop pods that sell cargo slots for your suit (first one is free then 10,000 for 2nd, 20,000 for 3rd and so on) 2) a somewhat easy way to make $, if you're on a planet with the pearls (they are in egg looking things, just interact with the egg deal, it opens, and pearl - note that sentinels will hunt you) and vortex cubes, mostly found in caves on some worlds, the go for around 23,000-27,000 or more depending on the location same with the pearls. Happy hunting.

No 14 About valuables and pirates. Upgrade your backpack all the way to 48 slots and then you can easily carry all the valuables there. If you won't have them in your ships cargo slots - pirates won't attack you (can be hard at start though, as the space is so limited). I've pretty much found out all of those myself, with one exception - I was feeding alien life forms, but never though the will get you some resources in return. Cool.

Some planets have LOTS of Inventory Slot drop capsules. On my first world I discoved 16 drop ship capsules to buy inventory spaces. If you find a good planet STAY and find evrrything...moving the story as fast as possible will invariabley have you miss stuff.

Number 3 is incorrect. If you fail the NPC there's no going back. Even when you get it right, you still need 20x Carbon to interact with it. The difference is by failing the question, you'll lose standing towards the race you were interacting with and you won't get the reward it gives you. By getting it right, you earn a reward (I've earned multi-tools, exo blueprints and even new words) and increase on reputation. Interacting with it again still costs carbon but your reputation increase should give you a better option like learning another new word.

If you enter a dialog and doesn´t have the resources for the choices you wanna make? Just back out like you do from the inventory (Right-click mouse on PC), collect the resources and give it another go. Worked 100% of the time for me.

I love the game personally. It reminds me of Pokemon in the sense that there is no wiki for it and everyone just has to figure stuff out. Pokemon was that way for me, you'd here about something from a friend and try to find what they found, or try a glitch you heard about; you had to figure it out. So many games today hold your hand and walk you through the game instead of generally encouraging exploration. NMS does just that and that sense of excitement and exploration of the unknown and figuring things out on your own is what makes this game a lot of fun in my opinion. Sean didn't design this game to coddle the player and never designed it to be a game where you just jump into a brawl like Super Smash Brothers. He said the likelihood of running into another player is very slim but still possible. I think people need to chill. One hour of NMS is far more exciting then the entirety of COD or Assassin's Creed.

unlike the many impatient turds out there, the maker of this video actually took some time out and played the game. I've been watching videos were players are bashing the game on mechanics they truly don't understand exist. I've spent over 40 on NMS and constantly finding things new (game mechanics wise, not in planet generation). I just can't see how people are disappointed in this title.

Don't pay for ships until you get to the very large ones that cost 30 - 50 million units. Use the beacons to find broken ships and trade up (also makes resource farming more fun). You can (on PC) reuse the ExoSuit upgrade terminals at the space station. You will need an Atlas Pass Level 1 or higher to get into the other door at the space station. And don't upgrade all your ship slots as this will prevent you from farming resources in space. You need at least one to receive the elements.

The way this game was created is in itself a wonder. I haven't even watched trailers much, I just bought it straight away! Now if anyone is not thrilled by the idea to jump in the suit of a lone galactic explorer who has a spaceship to jump around star systems, land on any world and find... something that was not intentionally designed there by a human, all this in a virtual galaxy too big for anyone to explore, all this with that music in the back ground... If anone can't appreciate all that, then they need to learn how to play without expectations and prejudices and with a much more open mind. (Or just use pot) Just because it is not what some may have expected, this is a really special game for special reasons...

re: Increasing Inventory Space I've got my inventory up to 24 slots so far just by exploring my starting world and finding the Drop Pods. I've only been to 1 space station and back and don't have the Atlas Pass yet. So yeah, a loooooooooot easier and faster to do it on world instead of trying to get the atlas pass and find more space stations.

I found that if you're in a storm of some kind and too far away from your ship or shelter, make a cave out of a block of whatever (gold is usually good) and the game automatically sees it as an actual cave and helps restore the temperature balance. Thanks for these tips though! Some I didn't know :)
