Getting a 6% cut is the problem here. For example, realtor commissions in countries like Singapore are 1-2%, not 5-6%. Sellers add this 6% to the selling price and the buyer basically pays the premium. The real winners were the realtors and hopefully, things will change.

@@armanisells and by the way, I am not saying the individual realtors are at fault, it's the way that the industry has been designed. You are forced to work with a realtor - that is what I am referring to. People should be able to list their homes without a realtor. IMO there is zero need for a realtor. I've worked with many, and can honestly say that 99% are crooks. You force a commission and it's pure theft IMO. It's sad people put up with this bullcrap this day and age.

@@dannyarias8786 you have been very misinformed because you can list your property on MLS without a realtor. The fact that you don’t know that shows that you don’t even know the industry that you claim to understand since you say that 99% of realtors are crooks. I do feel there are a lot of realtors that do offer zero value & Those are the ones that make the industry look bad however, there are a lot of great professionals out there. Perhaps somebody like you does not need a realtor however, there are other people that do not have the knowledge or time and prefer to use one. to each its own but to label an entire industry without actually knowing it is pretty ignorant in my opinion.

@@armanisells not misinformed - I know you can list it without a realtor, but go try doing that in the US. All the realtors will pass over your listing - even if listed at a better price. I would wager that 99% of people do not need a realtor, the reason realtors are needed is because the mislead to believe you need one to list the property and again, if you decide to not use a realtor to list your home, chances are the realtors will not bring anyone to look at your property. I don't know what you think but when your job is to represent the buyer (i.e. get the best house for the price), that should be a crime. And this happens every single day in our market. Also try polling people and asking them about their experience when buying / selling a property - I bet 99% feel unhappy and cheated?

@@dannyarias8786false. I get constant 5/5 reviews. Just even helped a for sale by owner that could not get his property sold then I got him another 40K so again do you. No one forces you to use one.

What is the realtor in the USA/Canada responsible for? I don't understand the need for one if the burden of legal check of all of the documents (for example, potential claims by potential relatives after the owner's death) is not on them. Listings are there for everyone to see (I know that the whole history of selling properties and paying taxes is available against payment at the moment - it can be changed), physical keys can be turned into a code, neighborhood info/school district info is readily available. Who needs an extra intermediary?

Things in canada vs US are very different. There are several platforms in Canada to sell your own home however those listings usually don't do well. Its not just about posting an ad as you would a pair of shoes & having a lawyer close the transaction.
