I loved this! Please make more grocery related videos. It’s something you get in a rut with and need constant inspiration. ✨✨

Thank you for having a Registered Dietitian on the show! Love seeing an expert on as an RD myself :) Also, thank you for mentioning that not all foods need to be organic. Not everyone can afford it and I think it’s valuable for us all to eat healthy amounts of produce, whole grains and lean protein options for what each budget can allow, which may mean more in the way of conventional. Therefore, I would love to see less emphasis on organic in the food displays on these shows. Great job 💙

Rachel, would you be able to do a segment on healthy college breakfasts (microwave/fridge only)? Cafeteria meals are not an option for me in the AM. Would love to be more college content in general. Thank you!

Great tips.Im all for organic/grass fed/local, but the prices in her area are way different than in many parts of the country. Less than $5/lb of grass fed anything and $2/organic beans, for example is unheard of.

Some suggestions for leftover ingredients, many veggies can be diced and frozen to be used later. Salsa can remain in the fridge for quite a while before going bad. Also, as a family, we do not necessarily enjoy multiple chicken meals in the same week etc.(even though I like to have the same meal as a leftover the same week) if you have extra cooked chicken, beef, turkey whatever, you can freeze that as well. Anyway.... just wanted to throw out some things that help me!

More than $4 a pound for ground beef is ridiculous to me. I don't buy organic because I can't afford to. I never pay more than 2.49 a pound for ground beef. Fruits and veggies are also cheaper in my area, but not organic. I think the greatest takeaway from this video for me, is the beans bins. Definitely going to use that

Uhh... Healthy food is generally cheaper than junk food. People don't eat junk food because it is cheap ; they eat it because it is easy.

Really? Where I live healthier fast food options are super expensive. So are healthy foods in grocery stores like fruits, kale, and spinach even when they're ( the fruits ) in season.

JumbleofJargon yea, don’t eat fast food. You’re paying for the convenience. Just meal prep with things you purchased from the grocery store.

i love how she tries to buy local and organic for the meats. i've been reading how animals are treated and am trying to be more conscious about buying animal-related foods.

you don't pay sales tax on food at the Grocery store anywhere in the US unless the food is considered prepared (such as potato salad made in the deli and sold in containers within the refrigerated / deli section). There is no benefit to buying from the farmer directly related to tax savings, plenty of benefit for direct buy/supporting the farmer, plus knowing where your food is from. Most farmers actually don't slaughter their own meat, they source with a butcher, it depends really.

I don't think that is accurate. Some states do not have sales tax on food, but others do. PA has no sales tax on food, but (for a while anyway) OH did have sales on food.

Does that woman actually have kids? How do you deal with the challenge that kids won’t eat half of that?
@mgb5170

Most kids will eat cooked plain rice, pasta and oatmeal. I think let kids reject fruit (they are so sweet) although apple sauce and fruit jams are usually well liked. Let kids have a variety and allow them to reject, doesn't mean they get something different than what is on the table. do one cooked vegetable a night (spinach, carrot, corn, peas, etc.) or in a dish. they will find a preference over time.

Depends on ur budget. It's been so hard to cook heart healthy for 2 of us on a budget. Not to mention fresh produce dosnt have a good shelf life so ur wasting gas going to and from the grocery store multiple times a week

mermaid princess Here comes the planning part. I used to have the same problem. Now I plan my meals according to the ingredientes I can pay for. One example: Grilled Salmon and Veggies on Monday. I use the leftover salmon for Fish Tacos with lettuce and cheese the next day or for a Wrap with some leftover salmon and veggies and I add some avocado. Other example. I use one pound of ground turkey and divide it in half. First half for a Turkey Chili with beans and veggies and the other half for mini BBQ meatballs that I serve with baked Sweet Potatoes.

Random thought/suggestion that may be helpful.... but only if you have the room to store... often when I cook, my plan is to make enough for that day's meal, as well as enough for one meal as leftovers later the same week (or could be for lunch too). So 2 meals in a week (one stone), but then also, I will make enough to freeze the same amount for a meal a couple of months later. So in this case, for 2 people, this would work for a meal with 8 servings. Hope that makes sense and is helpful.

@steelefire45

100% disagree.... absolutely not unhealthy in anyway, unless the meal went bad or is growing mold. Often times, letting the meal sit also enhances the flavor! Yum 😋
