Jeesh. Soft decks are awesome. You can lie down anywhere and the deck conforms to your shape. Now you have to use cushions that blow away in the wind. lol. And after that statement, I'll have another sip of my drinkish. Sorry, lol that came up and couldn't resist. I love your videos right up to the St Lawrence.

Well done you guys! Looks quite fine to me. Now for those wood work. Leaving the wood to deteriorate like that will only lead to more work and money... Your boat actually has some pretty nice woodwork, so it will be good to ensure it is in good shape as I'm sure it will make that boat looking pretty good!
@SchoandJo

Thanks Paul! I’m curious what will happen if we let the teak continue to go natural grey? That was our original plan, but the varnish looks good on the doors, which would be a pain to remove and strip. So there’s work either way…

You guys are definitely an inspiration to me. I've never done fiberglass work before. I have a 30 ft fly bridge with a large soft spot on the bow. Not leaking inside yet but can't be far off. I'm retiring this winter and should have the time, but getting over the fear of starting is the hard part.
@SchoandJo
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Charles! You can definitely do it! Time is your friend for learning and accomplishing what you set out. I'd definitely suggest starting small and giving your self plenty of time. It'll take a lot of the stress out of it! Plus always remember that with fiberglass any problems can be reversed... it may take more time x materials but nothing can't be un-done. Hope that helps getting over the fear!

I think that is a neat idea, I'd be down to try it! Since Pivot is a classic old trawler, I'm not sure it would just fit, but I think it could work if we consider the general aesthetic!

Yes we did! We bought new headliner from sail rite, and then followed their instructions for installing it onto new wood. We used the old headliners as templates for the new wood and it went well. Best advice would be to try and follow the sail rite instructions to a T specifically around drying time. Cheers!
