Just some info on BN3. The part cut off was the methane tank, this previously meant that the oxygen tank had to be pressurised and therefore monitored. I’m sure they removed the methane tank section to be able to leave BN3 as long as they want and not have to give any care in the world about how it is doing and not worrying about high winds etc..

I fully expect the Robert's Road facility to be closer to a more traditional rocket factory. In fact, I would not be surprised if instead of three tents, low bay, mid bay, high bay and wide bay there was two or three buildings next to each other used for the construction of Ships and Boosters. The main building would have a footprint much larger than the combined buildings at Boca Chica, and be between the low bay and mid-bay in height, A second building would be even larger than the wide bay. A possible third building would be slightly shorter than the high bay but still tall enough to fully stack a ship. Coils of steel, engines, and other supplies would arrive at one end of the main Starship factory with completed Ships and Boosters leaving the other end.

Didn't get cought though, worth it. After the succusful landing of 15 though, I got busy, and stopped following. I also remember being ridiculously curious as to what the "mystery structure" was. Glad to finally know. You blink and miss some crazy progress at Starbase. This video is like a "previously" at the beginning of a new episode of a show. Thanks!

17:57 it only lit 2 engines because the avionics detected a slightly lower than nominal CH4 header tank pressure, so it avoided an SN8 situation by only lightning 2 engines.

@@ale131296 SN8 intended to light 2 engines from the beginning, but spacex changed to 3 engines at SN10. Iirc, there was also some commentary on the official live stream which stated that there were supposed to be 3 engines lit, switching down to 1 or 2 after the flip.
@ale131296
2 жыл бұрын
@@elta-8972 I know that, still it doesn't line up with what the guy is saying. If the pressure in the header tank is low, it'll be low for 1, 2, or 3 engines. It doesn't matter if you light as many engines as you want, the engines will just go engine rich and won't produce thrust.

SpaceX is essentially reinventing the rocket engine and learning how to make it even more efficient with each iteration. I'm really glad SpaceX is ambitious as they are.
