The 8cm ball should work just fine for you. :)

Another thing I did, I've sewed and been a seam stress for years. I made myself a pen cushion out of a tuna can or chicken tan and I put all my put my pins for the one side I don't always count them I just fill the top of the pin cushion and then that way, it's easier for me to find my pens. Cause I stuck my finger tip so much. I'm trying to get the pens.

I couldn't do that. I'd have to have the longer ruler. And the at least a foot size ruler and the bigger Mat. I couldn't do it that away just saying

I think of it as a mini patchwork project. Any small alterations can give you something entirely new. Also, a great way to use scraps and great for gifting.

This was a very easy tutorial to follow. I like being able to see all of the angles so I could make it along with you and know I was folding and pinning correctly. Thank you for making this video.

Thanks ladies. This was comprehensive. I made my first one of these a couple weeks ago. I used Shabby Fabrics tutorial, but yours is very easy to see. I am anal enough that I pressed my squares, but I like your pre-pinning idea. You also explain the steps very well. I have just subscribed to see what else you come up with!

Can I use a 2" (4cm) ball and if so... what size are the squares cut to and would it still be 3 layers....only got a tiny tree but I do love these and would love to make them smaller
@WisdomPreserved

Yes, a 2" (4 cm ball) would work. I would still do 3 layers to achieve the same look, but it is entirely up to you,. That's what I love about them. If you only do 2 rounds on each side I would leave the blocks cut to the same size. If you do three rounds you could cut the fabric down to 2" squares, but you could leave them at the 2 1/2" and just allow overlap. You would ensure you had no gaps.

This tutorial warms my heart. You've blended traditional hand made Christmas ornaments, sharing, and friendship. I have made other versions of this same decoration, but think your approach to the finished ornament is for me. Basically you conserve on your choices of simple method and supplies to complete the task. Starting now gathering supplies, I want for the holiday season. Looking forward to more Wisdom Preserved. Judy, we are so happy that you found our channel and this fun ornament tutorial. I (Emmaline) love these ornaments and had my entire tree covered in them for Christmas 2020. My family loved the traditional and classic colors and the sparkle that the shimmer and glitter fabrics brought without over ornamentation.
