I have had one of these for years and it has worked perfectly. I have another kind that broke quickly. It has a small lever instead of a push button.

Thanks for the video breakdown! I have about 8 of these cans and several of them have been getting stuck. Thought of checking KZitem and here you are with a great tutorial. I took them all apart, cleaned and reassembled. Back in working order.

You've done better than I. I've broken most of them getting them apart. How did you remove the green end cap?
@theFugitive108

@@diverdon184 I used a pair of slip joint pliers and grabbed onto the green cap and pulled. They popped right off. Almost lost a couple springs. Ill mention that I have a newer design green push button. Its larger than the older round ones but same components and assembly. That may have helped not damaging it.

Is it an Easy Can or a No Spill. The Easy Can has an oblong cap but I've never taken one of those apart. By slip joint pliers do you mean channel locks or just plain pliers?

Yeah I was thinking maybe cleaning would help. How about spraying with the old stand by, WD-40, every so often or some other similar spray lube that ok if it get into your gas? Maybe carb cleaner or MAF sensor cleaner that are ok with gas, plastic and rubber?

@@theFugitive108 Or pliers with a rag between them and push button? Or maybe like those old rubber squares used to help loosen jar lids. Degrease with alcohol first too.

I'll edit and add a thank you at the start of this comment. Thanks for such a good and detailed video explanation of how these work! I will say after watching further, don't know what all the parts cost but the replacement nozzle price and time it save seems better and better! Especially since on No-spill's web site they are like $9.79, granted with shipping that might be like 12 total. For the green retainer could you drill a hole through it and the plungers shaft and put like a cotter or other retaining pin to make it more easy to take apart and hopefully put back together? The snap together plastic reminds me of a lot of car parts these days. and lot of hidden snaps and latches that work great on first assembly and not coming apart. But when ever you need access they are hard to disassemble w/o breaking and with age and a lot of disassembly and reassembly will stop retaining well and need replacement. More visible conventional style retainers can a lot of times solve the issue even if they don't look as "clean". As you say in the video, they are meant to go together and not come apart

I don't think there is enough clearance for any kind of retainer or pin. Never know until you try!

@@diverdon184 I'd actual mention to someone that has these and wanted something to hold the button down (i thing for pouring out a full 5 gal. can), to doing something similar by putting holes in the guard around the bottom, then push down and put a pin through the holes to hold it down. It might do double duty if you could also put a hole in the button. Granted if there's space.

I just bought six cans for 2 1/2 and one 5 gallon now I wanna send them back to Walmart. What type of gas can do you suggest I'm a 64-year-old widow and I want something easy but dependable. I would prescient you getting back with me on this. Thank you for your video

i bought the 2 1/2gal. no spill gas can the first time i filled it i guess i squeezed the pump nozzle too hard gas overflowed the can found that you have to go real slow because of the screen inside went to fill my mower when i got home and it leaked out the nut that tightens to can removed cap and o-ring was out of place pushed it down with a screwdriver tightened it down and didn't leak. so far I'm not to happy with my NO-SPILL can purchase!

I remove the screens. They're too course to matter anyway.....and yes the large o-ring in the cap is easily lost. You will get into the habit of checking it's location every time you replace the cap.

@@got2getit204 Just got done with the store in the sky. That is why I am here! Yes you can buy a replacement but what is the point? In a few years you will have to buy a new spout for another $15-$25. Don has the answer. What I would prefer is a 2" screw on lid with an old fashioned flexible hose. Imagine going to the fuel station to fill up a 5 gallon container or two. You put the lid back on tight and you do not realize your lid leaks like you did not put the lid on at all. Now you have two tanks leaking gasoline and no way to transport it safely all this thanks to EPA genius self proclaimed engineering experts! So tired of it!
