thanks for the video, you just saved me a big trip to the dealer. My car have the same issue, it will turn AC on , radio and such, but it won't kick it to "Start Mode". I jump the car very quickly and it started, heading out to get a new battery, problem solved.

I haven’t seen this issue but I would look at the gear selector as possible issue. It needs be in park to start so if the vehicle doesn’t know that it’s park it will not start.

Sapresti darmi qualche consiglio!? X risolvere questo problema! Grazie mille anticipatamente...

The Nissan Leaf DOES charge the 12V battery periodically when parked and switched off. Refer to the User Manual in the part describing the Charge Status Indicator lights. The rightmost one (from inside the car) illuminates steadily when the traction battery is topping off the 12V accessory battery. I have seen this a few times but only because the Leaf is parked in a garage that I use for other purposes. Most owners will never witness it, hence the common misconception. Not saying it does a perfect job, but it IS part of the charging algorithm for the 12V battery. Employing a small 1A or so battery tender every few weeks might be a good adjunct for some owners. AGM, Gel, EFB and spiral-wound replacements might sound like a good idea, but will their charging needs be met by the Leaf's algorithm? Current evidence that they work better and last longer is hard to come by, except where the automaker has spec'd them as stock. I would avoid jump starting an EV or any car with a lot of electronics. There are better ways now to achieve the same purpose, avoiding current surges.

You are right about this and this is Good information. I would stick with flood acid lead batteries as the resting voltage of other chemistry are much higher.

I had this happen. The car still worked but that i key system fault message was there all the time. It was a connector inside the door that was not connected up. It happened after my car had been to the panel beater and when they put the door back on, they failed to connect something up. It was a simple fix.

@bingonamo7520

@@MultiNat11 I don't know, the electric vehicle mechanics did it. I wouldn't mess around with this stuff yourself if you are not a mechanic. You could affect other parts of the car and it will end up costing you a lot more to fix. In my case the door had been removed for panel beating. If you have not had your door removed recently then it must be another connector elsewhere in the car that has disconnected.

I have a cuestion : I just bought a week ego this ELECTRIC NISSAN CAR LEAF 2014, but the battery will not chatge at all, and I have been charging it all night and day and the battery will not charge. I bought this ELECTRIC NISSAN LEAF 2014 CAR, in an AUTION, and it was running good and smooth on my way home, but all of the sudden the car died in the freeway, I had to tow it, and I thought it was the battery, because the battery does not show any charge, but like I told You, I conect the car to the electricity outlet but it jus will not charge the battery and never the less will not stat at all. WHAT DO YOU THINK IS WRONG?. I do not know what to do and I am desperate, I never had an ELECTRIC CAR, I paid 4 thousand and 4 hundred dollars for it. It took all my savings. Can you please tell me what is wrong with it , if You can let me know as soon as possible I WILL THANK YOU VERY MUCH. THANKS ! . I LOVE WHAT YOU DO FOR PEOPLE.

If the car died while on the freeway there is little chance it is the 12 v battery. Please visit Carcomplaints.com and can find relate concerns about your 2014 Nissan Leaf, I'm sure there are lots of people that this has happened to. Good luck and let me know what you find out.

You need a good 12v battery to charge the car and start the car, get a multi meter and check if the car is charging the 12v battery, when you press the brake and push the start button the battery should read around 14v

Damn.... didn't help me. I have a 2018 and I got the warning red screen after we drove to the absolute very end of our charge. I even took out the battery and put a pretty big one in to see if it would change and it still won't charge. I can turn it on with the switch no problem and everything comes on fine except I get the warning screen and it won't charge. How do I check the fuseable links?

Ti ringrazio anticipatamente Dany

How do you know the 12 volt is 💯 percent? Did you load test?, also on these nissan there are fusible links that are built in the battery post connectors.

The 12V accessory battery in the Leaf only receives a charge when the main battery (the Li-ion battery) is being charged. When the car is connected to a Level 1, 2 or DCFC charger (CHADEMO) the on board DC-DC converter will place approximately 14.35V across the 12V accessory battery to help keep it topped off. When the Leaf is being driven the voltage across the 12V accessory battery drops to just over 13.0V which effectively isolates it from the 12V system rail. This is by design as you want the DC-DC converter to take over responsibility for powering the 12V system rail when the car is being driven. However, 13.0V is not enough to keep the 12V accessory battery charged. If the car receives only DCFC charging (which only takes minutes), then the 12V accessory battery does not receive the 14.35V charging voltage long enough to keep it topped off. Even if only using the Level 2 charger it may not see the charging voltage long enough to keep the 12V accessory battery topped off. Consider this: If you have a 24kWh Leaf and you are only driving 30 miles or less each day (about 7.5kWh of juice), then a Level 2 charger will recharge the main battery in about 1.5 hours. That means the 12V accessory battery only sees 14.35V for 1.5 hours every day which may not be enough to keep it topped off especially if its a few years old. Suggest using Level 1 (trickle) charging every once in a while since it takes the longest to charge the main battery and thus will allow the 12V accessory battery to see that 14.35V charging voltage a lot longer.

What you said makes a lot of sense. Thank you so much for sharing. I hope your advice saves a bunch of 12 volt batteries from an early death.
