I talk a lot in my videos so for this one I shut up! For this jack plane I replaced the missing strike button, cleaned the body, re-ground the iron, front and back, and then re-bedded the iron. It's not bad looking by the time I finish.
If you're asking what the heck is a strike button, it's the small round bump, usually made of wood, on the top of the plane near the toe. Hitting it releases the wedge and blade after they've been set. It's NOT a broken handle. Hitting the wood body in the same place would also loosen the iron but using a button instead protects the plane from dents and damage.
