Hey guys, Justin, Lil and family here at Wild Berry Woods Off Grid Homestead.
We have been living off the grid for almost a year now, getting all of our power from our EG4 Solar System. We are also building our own house by hand while living in our 28 foot RV. Up until this point we have not had any issues with our Solar Power system, well, or septic.
However, recently, after we experienced torrential downpours, we lost electricity due to our EG4 Solar inverters throwing a fault code F05. EG4 inverter fault code F04 is "AC Output Shorted". This is not good because without power from our EG4 inverters we have no electricity or water! This has been the biggest challenge we have faced since our Dirt Road disaster last June when our dirt road completely washed out and turned into a giant mud pit.
Of course, this issue happened at the worst time, around midnight, so we stayed up late troubleshooting to figure out what was causing the inverters to have a short circuit fault.
After breaking out all of his electrical troubleshooting gear, Justin finally isolated the fault to a short circuit in our Well Pump circuit.
There are three locations which could have caused the fault, and it happened to be in our underground wiring run.
At this point, our options are to dig up the old wiring run and attempt to repair the wire, or to start fresh and run a new underground wire.
In the meantime, Justin hot wires the Well pump to be able to run off of our generator so that we can at least fill up our fresh water tank, do some laundry, and take showers.
Tune in next week on Sunday to see part 2 on how we fix the Well pump circuit and restore our water!
