Interesting video, I have a few old Triang wagons and coaches, all with riveted iron couplings. It might be a good idea to change them to NEM. I would also very much like to change their wheelsets. They are in very thick plastic, fitted on a iron axle. They are constantly leaving black dirt on the rails, causing my locomotives to loose contact. Thanks for showing how to change these old couplings 🙏👌👍

Great video. I have some of the very old Triang rolling stock with the early large couplings (I've forgotten what they're called right now) but I would assume the same process could be used. I'll give it a go and see what happens. Thanks again.

Thank you for sharing. I've used the same approach for wagons.

Hi Richard I am glad it has helped you this is exactly why I made this video type as when I was looking I never found many videos which were useful. So I am Glad it has helped you. since doing this video I have now purchased a load of these type of coaches of a well known site, so I can have 2 rakes of 4 coach trains likely to be a my maximum size length due to the size restrictions of my upper level. I will probably do a strip down of these carriages clean and place people inside them, would that be of interest to you as well?

Simply use a drill bit larger than the rivet head, don’t really need the smaller drill. You may need to hold the underneath of the rivet with needle nose pliers to stop it spinning.

Thank you, but please some more rigorous editing, better lighting, and more attention to focus would make this much more watchable. And the rule of thumb for captions is enough time to read them twice at normal speed. Yours are up for barely 2 seconds, not enough to read, let alone digest.

Thank you for taking the time to comment. Unfortunately when I had time to shoot it was dark and that was the best light available. I also would like to point out that I do this as a hobbie and upload so that I can have a record of my progress over time. I never aim to be professional. I also Unfortunately simply don't have the skill or equipment available currently to do better. Hopefully in the future time and circumstances will maybe allow for an improvement. I did this video as when I was looking to find the way I couldn't find a video on this particular type of coupling so uploaded it in the hope it may help others. However thanks for your opinion.
