OfCourse in 2012 when bolt set his OR the others were chasing him and pulled out some incredible times too, and Jacobs would have been 4th in 2012 but he was 17 then. With his 9.8 last olympics would have got him 2nd in 2016 and 2nd in 2008, just a weird comparison, are you trying to prove something? The key phrase is "let's see'. The old strategy of keeping one's power dry is gone bye bye. The top two are certain everyone else is maybe. 8 Billion people who are all genetically the same species who now live in basically the same political, material, and technical conditions means more speed across the board than in the past. Combine that with critical mass theory and you find that it requires a global population of X to produce any entire field of runners of speed Y. Then you have an X population that says unless there are more than 8 lanes and all 48 men have to run 10 flats to get to Paris that every round has to be run faster than any prior Olympics as a field.

There are several factors in play (and these factors are going to influence the overall outcome) for the men's 100 meters medals in Paris 2024: 1. Consistency: Noah Lyles wins for sheer consistency. 2. Capabilities: Kishane or Omanyala "can win" as they have the capability to do so should they choose to. Several others are capable of producing an upset. 3. Improvement: Oblique from Jamaica, Tebogo, Kenny, Fred, Louie or any of the top 10 have shown improvements to shake things up. 4. Fitness for qualification: It will be anyone's game- if there are numerous false starts, cramping issues in the semis or final. 5. Determination: The one who's most hungry for the gold and focused can upset all predictions on any given day in the semis and final. Refer to the Top 22 Qualifiers list at 5:45 6. Local conditions: The track in Paris is a good, fast track and conducive to record breaking performances. The weather, altitude, location have shown to provide no barriers to performance and we have seen world records and Olympic records fall in other disciplines of track and field so far in Paris 2024. 7. Mental conditioning and stability: Whoever is mentally strong and focused in the semis and finals will get through (irrespective of being a favorite, dark horse or unknown). 8. Diet, food, digestion: Paris 2024 has had numerous complaints of food shortages for athletes (high protein quality food) and lack of good food choices among sportspersons (too much cost cutting and penny pinching?) as well as a few complaints on not having adequate air conditioning in athletes' rooms. The type of food, quality of food, quality of sleep, recovery and rest levels affect metabolism, hormone levels, testosterone levels and even the mood of athletes on finals day. Ideally these factors should not even be an issue for seasoned athletes (with their custom regimens and food intake) but Paris 2024 doesn't fail to surprise on these counts. Athletes from tropical countries as well as those used to the heat and humidity may end up performing better than expected. Conversely there's also a good chance of highly conditioned athletes going past all these hurdles (see point no. 5 and 6) and breaking records regardless. 9. Handling stress and pressure: Being the 'favorite to win' or being the 'world champion' or the 'fastest in this season' - all bring the added pressure of national and international expectations to perform and win. The ones who are physically fit and who consistently handle emotional and mental pressure and able to manage stress better (through the semis and final) will excel (regardless of the stats or record of past timings.) My best wishes to all the athletes! Do well!

Noahs very smart. He knows WHEN to throw down. And it's not ROUND 1. Every bit of energy wasted now and in the semis. Will cost the runner in the final. So even the people who ran 9.97--9.98. Are going to pay for it.. A perfect example of this is Talou in the women's 100. She never learns. She ran 10.87 yesterday in round 1. By the final she will be lucky to get 4th AGAIN...

As a Kenyan I have to back our boy Omanyala but damn that semi 3 is no joke. If he can get out of it (im only truly worried about Kishane and Kerley) and give Kishane a good challenge in that race, then mentally it sets him up really well for the final. I watched all the heats and there was nobody that impressed me as much as Kishane Thompson. Incredible power! 5:30 bro you know I love Kerley and have been saying he’s my dark horse. But saying he looked most impressive is.. well debatable. But it’s an opinion I respect that and won’t take away from my man Fred. But Kishane had a mid reaction, got to top speed and separated, then shut it off. Perfect opener. I don’t wonder if Noah can respond. I know he can. That’s the issue. He’ll overcompensate and run a PB or something to the tune 9.80 in a semi which is a huge mistake imo. And then have to turn around & run an entirely different race in the final against guys going full beans. I don’t like that quote from him. It’s the qualifiers. That was a normal looking race. If he said nothing I’d be confident he’s on track. But the fact that he had an excuse for some reason says that wasn’t the plan. And it was an excuse. Again I don’t think he needed one. That’s how he runs. Not great start, relying on close out speed. Like I’ve been saying though with this field can you rely on close out speed? But still it was fine. Do enough to advance. Don’t waste energy. This is why no one can double like Bolt. Managing a games is as much mental as physical. Bolt in his entire Olympic career In the 100m dash never once went sub 10 in an opening round. Let that sink in. Noah is def about to open up too early in the semi instead not making this an ego thing. Better hope he can recover. But I really really hope I’m wrong and he just cruises to a 9.93 or so. That’s assuming the field doesn’t dictate something quicker to advance regardless insert enough to win heat and rest for the final.
