So to those who are curious what she accomplished, basically she was able to develop a method to capture atom movements by using a similar technique in stroboscopy, but using laser instead.

Not always, but I do agree with you. I have met a lot of professors with doctorate and post-doctorate who treated me, a student, like I was a colleague who could at any moment disprove their methods and conclusions.

@@zenrhys589 because it is very closely related to the comfort of actual day to day life of most people. “Worthy” may be a wrong choice of words, but it is definitely more relevant than a lot if things. Not to mention it’s rarely recognized by the public like the op said.

Understood. However, "very closely" is stretched, and while i agree with you in terms of relevancy for nobel Laureates, i believe the relevancy of "all academia" is a whole other conversation and i would argue the majority of academia, outside of a few incredible discoveries every generation, have little effect on most people's daily life. I think its disingenuous to say academia is the MOST relevant. I think those who actually create things and make ideas and thoughts into a reality are the ones who are the most relevant.

Achieving a Nobel prize in Physics, Chemistry is insanely difficult. Discovering a new theory or formulae based on previous research, theories, or studies that would ultimately benefit the society requires years of experience, knowledge, research, and efforts.

The Nobel in economics wasn't given at early Years. After that, they felt that they should give a noble prize in Economics also since this subject is also very important for Mankind. Same thing goes with Nobel peace prize. When the Nobel prize was introduced, they used to give only Nobels in physics, chemistry and literature. Also, The Nobel peace prize is given by Norway, not the Royal swedish academy for Science at Stockholm.

She along with 2 others invented a way to generate attosecond pulse (an extremely short light pulse of just about 10^-18 of a second), it will help scientists in closely examining the movement of electron, which could be very useful in vaccine, drugs improvement and in computics too
