This song is absolute heartache. We've all had somebody in the past we have loved from afar, and to watch them walk into the sunset is pure pain. This song is the absolute definition of

Fabulous performance by a fabulous performer. She understands how to voice lyrics like few others... she feels each word, beautifully. Over this year, I've become a big fan. In fact, I think this is the most beautiful rendition of this song that I've ever heard. Kat reminds me of another singer, from the sixties era, the great Joanie Sommers. That same tonal quality. I think Ms. Edmonson should actually get more recognition for her talent. She's that good.

Anybody with a heart can spot talent in a musical performer, and this woman simply oozes it. Barring a tragedy, Kat Edmonson will be in the music business for a very long time. She keeps getting better, and the ACL show was the best I've seen so far. And what a great band, too!

I don't know if, in your day-to-day life, Kat, you wear your heart on your sleeve. But this song is for everyone who does. It's not the easiest life. You will be disappointed. You will put faith and joy in some regrettable places. People will not know what to make of what you have. Or perceive it incorrectly. Others, as the song indicates, just won't be able to recognize that heart on your sleeve. Or be so taken with someone else as to be blinded to it. But, for those of us... who have no choice... as it is the way we are made... this song is light and warmth and the profoundest truth. And... who knows? Maybe we'll keep loving without reserve... until... somebody knows that... and will run towards it. Thank you, Kat. You are a gift.

Maybe she was channeling Blossom Dearie, maybe it is simply that they are really singing from precisely the same place in some universal heart of hearts. First time through, I really don't think I missed a single word. What more can one ask from a great singer? Quite astonishing.

Agree and more -- meaning it has whatever it takes to become a standard -- and that includes the piano interval, vastly superior live than recorded version.

P.S. Almost left out the PIANO PLAYER... superb. Notice his economical style of playing, using only the most tasteful notes, without ever "getting in the way." He understands that the true power lies in the silence, *in between the notes.* Kudos.

She was appearing in the PBS concert series Austin City Limits. That video is still accessible at PBS.ORG The headliner was Norah Jones (daughter of Ravi Shankar). She's (Norah's) a great lyricist, but also pretty mush-mouth sometimes, so I had the [CC] subtitling turned on for Norah, and forgot to turn it off for Kat.

I'd like to find this without the lyrics on the bottom, it distracts you from her expressions. She sings clear enough to hear all of the words anyway.
