Several of my family members and myself met Wilf on the streets of Carstairs and Calgary in the forties. He was always a fine gentleman and took time to talk to us even tho we were just kids.

Such a sweet song! He sings "I`m leaving this cold world behind.." Does it mean, that he is dying and he is asking her, never to fall in love or marry again, but to wait until they united in heaven? Very sad, but so beautiful.

Yes. And even if there is no literal heaven, one can still remain loyal in death eternally forsaking all others.

amber1974a, This is a Jimmie Davis song recorded in 1935. One of the most popular songs of the period. So popular that Jimmie recorded about a half dozen answer songs to it. Tex Ritter also recorded it around that time. Wilf Carter does justice to the song more than Merle Haggard IMO.

going crazy trying to get the name of an old song I used to listen to as a kid in the 40s. If you can help pls email me at natejack2@hotmail.com. Here are the lyrics I remember: A little curly head treasure playing softly in the sand. When evening shadows start to linger For you then she starts to call. In my arms I rock her gently. It seems like I won't do at all.
