Top class video mate! I've been lifting in a pair of hightop converse for a couple years now and they're getting pretty hacked so i'm looking to replace them. Nobull had been the first my first idea since they have a pretty nice look to them. How would you say they compare to converse? mainly im looking for that stability in squats and feel waaay more comfortable in hightop trainers. Should i look at getting a pair of these Nobull's or re-invest in the converse? The Nobull's would run me around $200 CAD (i'm by no means a competitive lifter but i do workout fairly frequently and try to maximize my compounds).

The NOBULL are great, but for that price...I'd suggest sticking with Converse, but going with their new "Wide" option. I recently got a new pair and they've been killer. Becoming one of my fave gym shoes again because they're actually wide enough for my feet. Highly suggest that. NOBULL High-Top are solid, though, I also think you'd like the GORUCK Ballistic Trainer Mid!

Loving the channel and reviews! When it comes to sizing for nobulls (low and high), would you say: narrow/standard foot = true to size and wider/wide foot = size 0.5 up? And how would you compare the width and length to Reebok Nano X1s? Reaaaaally trying to find that right sizing for a wider foot before purchasing from Australia 😊 Thanks for all the useful info!!!
@thatfitfriend
3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! You're on the money there. In regard to Nano X1s, they're shorter in length and a smidge less roomy in the forefoot. If you want, shoot me a message on IG (@jake_boly) and I can help further + send photos of how a 10 in the high top trainer looks compared to X1. I don't want you to pay for shipping, then have a shoe that fits poorly.

Hello Jake, I am planning on buying a pair of these shoes. I'm currently wearing Metcon 6 size 8,5 and they fit perfectly ( very stable on the feet, not too big and not too small with about half an inch free space for the toes , so they feel very athletic and I like that ). What do you recommend for the Nobull trainers? Should I go for the same size or should I size up? Thanks
@thatfitfriend

You should be safe going same size especially if the 8.5s fit you well! You’ll notice some more toe box room in NOBULL Trainers, but they generally fit pretty true.

What would you suggest for deadlift and squats? Converse or No bull?
@thatfitfriend
3 жыл бұрын
Great question! I’ve written & filmed on that topic before. thatfitfriend.com/nobull-trainers-vs-converse/ Converse pros: Cost-efficient, good for daily wear, good stability. Converse cons: sizing can be weird if you’ve never worn them (peep my sizing guide), the canvas upper can breakdown/rip quick at times. NOBULL pros: (High-top) model looks good for daily wear, plenty stable, can offer a tad more versatility than converse. NOBULL cons: expensive AF

Hey Jake. Looking to get these shoes and trying to find the right size. I wear 10W in normal boots. I currently have Nike metcon dsx flyknit shoes and wear a 10.5. I prefer to have a little extra room for my toes and have read if I went with the 10’s then they will be a little tight. Thoughts on going to 10.5 since I’ve got a slightly wider foot and the current shoes I workout in are 10.5’s. Also compared them to my Nike basketball shoes which are 10-10.5 depending on the model. The 10’s fit tighter and generally I prefer the 10.5 in Nike shoes for a little more room. Thanks for the help

I think you’ll be saying going up a .5 size! The high-top boot also works as a fail safe for heel slip in the rare event you we’re swimming in them (which you won’t be!).

Would NoBull Mid Trainer be good for basketball? I love my Nano’s for CrossFit and in a pinch wear them at ball games. I’ve never worn NoBulls so just looking for opinion. Thanks, love your videos
@thatfitfriend
3 жыл бұрын
Eh, it would be okay, but if you already have Nanos and want a second pair of shoes, then I’d ask why not go with a more specific basketball shoe? The High Top are okay, but for the price point, if you already have a pair of Nanos that you like to lift in, then they’re going to be an expensive pair of shoes that will be only “okay” for ball! If you wear them daily etc. then they might be worth it, but even then, not my first pick for basketball
@MsCaitor

I find basketball specific shoes pricey. I only have games once a week so I figured if I could use cross trainer type that would double as bball shoes then that would work. I would use my nanos for lifting and CrossFit and thought another pair could work for training, ball, and everyday use. I don’t know much about NoBull but after watching the games this week I thought would look into it. Also I totally have a shoe addiction lol. Thanks so much for your response! I really appreciate your insight and always engaging/responding in comments. Whenever I need new shoes I come for your reviews. Your channel deserves waaayy more subscribers. Cheers!

@@MsCaitor ahhh, got you - in that case, they may be worth it then. Despite hating the price, I do love rocking these on a daily basis because of their simplistic look. I also have a review on them if you want a deeper look into them 💪

I would like to know if these would be good for basketball? Understanding that IMO most basketball shoes are terrible and I would rather play in a pair of low top Altras than any other basketball shoe I have ever owned. Would these be a good middle ground?
@thatfitfriend
2 жыл бұрын
I think so! You won't get a ton of responsiveness out of their midsole, but if you like a more stable shoe for basketball, then they should fit the bill pretty well, IMO.

@@thatfitfriend I’m still looking into this. As before they didn’t have my size of 10.5. Yet now I’m looking at mineral and moss mid suede or the high top dark grey gum. Of those three which one would you pick? Thought the high tops for more support. Yet the suede looks more breathable and since it’s mid top maybe easier to take on and off. Which one would you suggest? Wow. I’ve taken some time until I finally purchase my first pair of no bull.

I noticed you mentioned limited dorsiflexion in this shoe. Could this possibly turn out to be a good thing for athletes who's ankles are hyper-mobile. For reference, I can pistol squat barefoot, and when I get out of the gym to ski I have boots customized to deal with this issue. I have 4-year-old pair if Nike Metcon 3s that I'm looking to replace mostly for CrossFit and lifting and was wondering if I'm better off going for these, low tops, or sticking with Nike or Reebok
@thatfitfriend
3 жыл бұрын
If you lace them up all the way and tighten them the material will limit dorsiflexion a tad, but I wouldn’t bank on that aspect stabilizing the ankle joint if that’s what anyone is after! Mostly because they’re not designed for that purpose so I’m not sure how long the material would be effective at “stabilizing/limiting some ROM” at a joint that has more range of motion and I’m not confident in saying yes for this reason. Honestly, if what you have works really well, then it’s never a bad idea sticking with what works, but I do like the High Top Trainers and they might be worth trying if you want a higher boot!

Ehhhh, tbh, no. Super expensive, very hot, and IMO less "functional" than this version. If you want them for daily wear and love their look, then send it, but for training, I'd say pass.

I have this model and love them. They are a bear to get in though. Sizing is off slightly, imo. I wear a 15 in most sneakers, but a 15 in NOBULLs was way too big. I exchanged for a 13.5, and they’re snug. Next time, I’ll go for a 14.
