@gamers nexus can you review the corsair elite series of aio’s either the capellix or lcd as its the same internals. I know you have previous corsair coolit unit coverage on the channel, but I would like to see maybe the 280 or 360 elite capellix on the charts when you show all the other coolers. Its an expensive all in one cooler, and honestly most people who buy it do it for aesthetic reasons. Would like to see objective numbers on how well it performs to see how much of the price is reflecting the cooling quality versus how much you are paying for pretty LED’s/an LCD screen, and the corsair ecosystem. As someone who watches every GN video I would appreciate seeing data on that cooler from you. I also understand if you just don’t have the time to cover it, or are sick of covering corsair CLC’s considering how often they made an appearance a few years ago on this channel. Have a great day!

After seeing your review of the Freezer II I picked one up immediately. Then they revised the mounting and I upgraded to a 5900x. I reached out expecting to pay, nope free of charge. Then the tiny fan died, and oddly enough shortly after the pump itself died, no problem they sent me replacements quick and easily. I miss that cooler but now have a full custom loop system. My stance on included tools is that they're useful when unique in some way. A torque wrench for Threadripper is useful, and even hex heads and Torx in general to some degree, but I think people can be assumed to have their own screwdrivers. Especially with a budget product, I'd rather not have to pay for a tool I'll never use again.
@ionstorm66
2 жыл бұрын
Yeah a single tower cooler generally dosent need an included tool because any one Philips will work. Dual tower coolers should include one because a screwdriver long and thin enough isn't common. Side note, noctuas included L handle screw drivers have an amazing fit and grind to them, better than most screwdrivers I own.
@BunzJackson
2 жыл бұрын
I actually bought a Fuma 2 recently and appreciated the screwdriver they included. I have a few screwdrivers laying around, but they wouldn't have cleared the tower to get down to the screws. I probably could have found something that worked, but again, I appreciated it. I would assume most people like me don't buy enough stuff to be overloaded with extra tools.

I’d also add that it can be nice when the tool sent is genuinely high quality or can be stored conveniently with the component (although that probably doesn’t work as well in a computer where you’re already fighting for space) especially if the the tool in question is a specific spec/size/brand/torque/etc that might not be on hand otherwise

One of the reasons why this was requested so much is probably because its price in the EU is much lower at around 38€ for the eSports Duo (used to be 32€, but its reputation as the budget king caught up to it), 27€ for the single-fan version and 22€ (!!!) for the non-eSports version, including tax, making this basically a no-brainer for any mid-range build.
@Vinterloft

Yep, the Fuma isn't just "$10 more" it's literally twice the price in Norway and you can't even find the damn thing in stock. This is just like how Americans keep talking about the Sabrent Rocket SSDs as if they weren't trash, just because they're a lot cheaper than the SN850 there. In EU the SN850 is the cheapest AND best PCIe 4.0 SSD, (hell, the SN850 is cheaper in EU than the Sabrent is in US) just like the Arctic 34 Duo is the price to performance cooler of choice right now. Also, it comes in all white, that's worth a lot to a lot of people.

Yeah, feeling you on Gigabyte. I already had a rough time with a bad motherboard, heard a bunch of other people having the exact same issue (after changing BIOS settings, like turning on virtualization, it wouldn't boot, then you would have to pull the plug while holding the power button, plug it back in and the BIOS would be reset to default, but it would boot then. The reports were all AMD boards) Gigabyte didn't respond to my request for 6 months and by then I had to get a new motherboard. They only offered to replace and not any other form of compensation after taking 6 months to respond to the initial support request and another couple of weeks of troubleshooting via email. Technically the warranty doesn't stipulate they have to refund, but it's unreasonable to expect someone to wait 6 months to even START the RMA process. This was in early 2019 so there is no reasonable excuse, they're just bad. I've been saying this since before the exploding power supplies.

Finally! I needed this review a year ago, when I was looking at buying it for my brother. I took a gamble on it, and it impressed the heck out of me. I wish you'd given them more praise for the packaging. Almost no wasted space, very minimal use of plastic and no unnecessary screw driver or paper manual is a big plus in my book. As for your next cooler, I'd like to see the Be Quiet Pure Rock 2 Black. It's in the same performance(and color) segment as the Arctic Freezer 34 eSports, Noctua NH-U12S Chromax and Vetroo V5, so it should make for an interesting and popular comparison. Plus: Everyone else and their dog has already reviewed the Dark Rock Slim, but very few reviews of the Pure Rock exists on KZitem.
@reinbeers5322

Screwdrivers never really become useless regardless of how old they are (if they're still in one piece) so I wouldn't give points off Noctua for that. Paper manual... they're useful when the company that made the product dies off or stops supporting it - air coolers never really get too old, the fan may die but the actual cooler rarely stops working - or if you somehow don't have an internet connection.
@stianh.4587
2 жыл бұрын
@@reinbeers5322 But how many of them do you actually need? Most people™ already own a screw driver, and a high quality one at that. They're as common as scissors and bread knives, so the one's included with CPU coolers are just wasted metal that could've been cut on the price tag of the product and used for something completely different.
@reinbeers5322

@@stianh.4587 I once went to help a friend build his PC, and I assumed that he'd have a screwdriver so I didn't bring mine. Guess who didn't have a single screwdriver that wasn't way too big. Anecdotal, but the cooler screwdriver saved me from having to go back home to get one or having to go buy another one to add to my already way too big collection of screwdrivers. They're wasted materials until you actually need them, so I appreciate when a good tool is included.

Finding a cooler at this price which actually works well and quiet is a challenge. Similar situation here. I initially purchased it because I was restricted to both LGA 2011-x compatibility and a reasonable price. But since the LGA 2011 mobo decided to be an annoyance earlier than what I could ever expect (I didn't had the best hopes about its potential lifespan but meh), I switched to a "budget" Ryzen 2 based platform over the night which happily accepted the, by then, barely used cooler... And at the same time, it served as no more than a testbed for the Wraith cooler (just curious about the _wonders_ of the new (by then and for me, obviously) AMD stock coolers that -allegedly- perform like aftermarket ones) with the preapplied thermal paste. Kinda noisy and not so great in thermals. So this one was the choice of the decade for me. Like premonition, or something. Anyway, I tend to like my CPU coolers compatible with as many different types of sockets (or their mounting holes/layout) as possible, within reason. Versatility is key 🤓🧐

I have the 225XT which has two fans. I don't find them noisy but then again mine never went beyond 950RPM when cooling my 11400 under load that my case fans were actually noisier. Playing around with the fans on the BIOS I find that they start getting noisy at around 1200RPM where you heard some whistling. At 1800RPM which is its max speed that's where the whistling gets high pitched almost like a vacuum.

all Arctic Freezer 34 coolers have a bad plastic backplate for Intel, basically they are good for AM4 mobos with metal backplates but worse for Intel systems where with time you can have mounting pressure problems, especially with cheap thin 4-layer PCB mobos. buyers should be aware of that.

After not paying attention to desktop PC tech since 2015 I set out to build new systems for my wife and I in late 2019. Went with Arctic P14 for case fans (the value of the 5-pack is hard to fathom) and the Freezer 7 X for the Ryzen 3600. Still extremely happy with those, but I like the look of the 34 eSports so I'm super stoked to see this review!!

I bought this exact Arctic eSports DUO Freezer 34 cooler in late 2020 for 25 EUR (used, though looked brand new). I have been using it on top of an AMD Ryzen 3700x without any problem, I'm totally satisfied with its performance. For me PWM fans are crucial, so I even swapped one of my case fans to an Arctic PWM 120mm case fan. *Arctic gets 5 stars from me.*

Well, I don't have any of their coolers, but I do recommend their fans whenever I can. I buy them in 5-Packs off Amazon. Great value for PWM high static pressure fans. And no RGB, which is a good thing! Most of the 120mm fans are used with XSPC RX360 rads. These are thicc rads, and the fans flow great, and are low noise, even at max RPM. 3 years and counting, and these fans are still performing like new. And no, I am not paid by Arctic in any way, shape, or form. But like you guys, I am about getting a quality product for a good price.

I personally would love some direct contact base plate Vs copper. There's a really interesting relationship between the size of the IHS and direct contact heatpipes and also in terms of performance at different TDP and price to manufacture due to materials used. It might require quite a lot of data to be able to make those conclusions in a scientific way but would be good to cover the basic configurations: direct contact 3x8mm, 4x6mm, 4x8mm, 5x8mm,6x6mm and copper base 4x6mm,4x8mm, 5x6mm, 5x8mm, 6x6mm, 7x6mm, 6x8mm. You already have some of the data. There used to be a lot more variety and players on the air cooler space but AIO killed them all 10 or so years ago.

This is the cooler I picked up when I moved from my old 4690k to my R5 3600. It was either that or buying an adapter plate for my old Hyper 212, and at the time the Arctic was only $40. I really appreciate how quiet it is, especially since I moved from my old Phantek P400S to an H500, which I run completely open. Only ever hear when my 5700XT's fans go into overdrive.

If a company includes a good quality tool that has a unique characteristic then I'm down for it. I really love the bequiet!'s included screwdriver from the Dark Rock series. I used it to assemble everything that has a big enough philips headscrew on it. PCs, cupboards, drawers, a toilet. I even used it to screw down plasterboards to plywood in tight spaces where I couldn't fit a cordless drill. When you look at it it's really nothing special, but it's a good quality screwdriver with a long rod and a strong magnet on a tip.

I have this cooler. Been rocking it for almost 2 years. I have it on a ryzen 7 3700x. That's an 8 core/16 thread cpu. It handles my cpu brilliantly. For those who get this cooler. You use the standoffs with a single notch on them for amd systems. Also would advise the arctic method of applying thermal paste. One straight line down each heatpipe on the base. That ensures every heatpipe has an adequet mount to the cpu. Also would advise pulling the full motherboard out to fit this cooler. You need to keep the back plate in place ( i sometimes use my daughters blu tack for that XD) It's just to big and cunky. It's also too hard to get the fans on in tight cases. It runs my 3700x so well, im concidering trying it on a 5800x3d. Im just about to buy this cpu. In theory, the 3700x is a 65 watt cpu and the 5800x3d is a 105 watt cpu and my cooler is a 210 watt cooler so im optimistic. I'm pretty certain it will do a good job at handling the cpu for every day tasks and gaming. Just not sure how it will run under full load though.

Nice review, don't really like included tools - it adds to cost, and ends up never being used again. Been using the Liquid Freezer II for a full year now and have had no reason to change it out - would even buy it again. Also been using P12 PWM PST (and P14) for several years - they are not the best by any means - but you cant beat a 5pack for $35. Why buy two high end fans for $35 bucks when you can spend the same for a 5 pack and fill the case for similar performance with even less noise. Cool to see some new air coolers from Artic - been a "fan" for awhile now.
@twiggsherman3641

I think "best fan" is very subjective without any data. Unless you can hear the bearings, one fan to the other is going to be just as loud, you're hearing the air moving not the fan. So it comes down to how noisy are the bearings, and how much air can they move. For my money the P14 PWM PST fans I use beat my ML120s I have on my radiator and the HD120's I have for the RGB bling. Mostly because I can't hear the bearings, they can daisy chain, and they do what they're supposed to. My only real complaint is they're a bit harder to clean with the swept fan blades, but its not a deal breaker at all.

The smell is gone now with marginally better acoustic behaviour.

I agree it would be interesting, but the data wouldn't vary by much. The design and run speeds of fans and fan technology is pretty simple. They're not all the same by any means but it boils down to Fan push air. . Heat syncs on the other hand can be a lot of different shapes, sizes, pipe layouts etc. this is why GN puts what speed the fans were running at and how many fans were on the heat sync during each test on their graphs.

I've been using the non duo version of this cooler, and a big reason I went with it was the mounting mechanism, previously I had to go through the pain and misery of installing a hyper 212 Evo black edition, and to some extent an AMD stock cooler that doesn't use the levers. Those coolers have the 4 spring loaded screws, which I found to be a massive pain to install, took close to 30 mins and needed help from another person to get them installed, but with the 34 eSports (still a dumb name) I could do it by myself start to finish in under 10 minutes. Only note is that when trying to install the cooler when the motherboard is already in the case requires you to prop up the backplate with something so it's pushed all the way forwards, or else the thumb screws won't reach.

Those fans bought by themselves are a really good budget option. They come in both "air flow" and "static pressure" versions, 120mm and 140mm sizes, are available in PWM, have a very wide RPM range, and are able to be daisy chained together due to the way the cable is designed. There's no RGB, but they come in 3 or 4 different colors around the ring. You can't beat them for the price! You might want to test the fans included with the cooler by themselves on your new fan testing machine.
@copperx

There's also an RGB version of the BioniX fans already. As for case fans I actually use the regular P12 PWM-PST (not BioniX). Daisy-chaining is only supported on the PWM-PST versions, there are also ones with just PWM and ones without PWM at all, so keep an eye on the version you're buying. With my cheapo motherboard with just one case fan header, having the PST feature saves me a hub. Also the fans on the Freezer 34 have the PST connectors, so you can connect more case fans directly to the CPU cooler fans to keep the same speed.

I got an Arctic Freezer 34 eSports One on flash sale for $20 in 2018. I promptly installed it as an upgrade over my Wraith Spire and immediately saw a -8C to -10C reduction. Made sure to use the last of my Arctic MX4 as well for overall balance and stability. Idle temps hover around 28C with a peak of 52C in core heavy workloads. All jokes apart it has been a very solid, durable and well performing cooler. At the time I was debating between the Scythe Fuma and the Arctic Freezer. Given the sale and good reviews I went with the Arctic Freezer and I really just have no complaints. It works well, it's very quiet, and for a mid-range build you will be hard pressed to find a better performer at the price point. So I guess what I'm saying is that, as an owner of the product being reviewed, I can't find any reason to disagree with anything Steve said.

Thing with the Arctic P fans i found out on a GPU mod: they don't scale that well with rpm in terms of performance. There is a certain point where the fans only get a lot louder and the temps don't really improve very much anymore. And the strength of these fans is that this point is crazy low, and pretty solid in terms of cooling performance. So they're actually pretty damn quiet, and cooling *very well* for that noise level. On the other hand it's nice to have a little bit of headroom with rpm, the 2100rpm range seems kinda wasted on these fans, and even the regular P12 (which only go to 1800 i think) are way overshot.

I'm so glad you reviewed this, as one of the apparently many who asked for it to be tested. I think I specifically requested it in a comment when you guys first announced your intention to do more tower cooler and also fan tests, probably two years ago. I've been pretty pleased with mine, which I got for $40, but I only have a 3600 so I'm not exactly pushing its limits on heat. More than anything, I'm glad that the "cheap" tower cooler is both not dead, and seems to have actual competition. As a former Hyper-212 devotee, I feel confident now recommending this one to others for a more modern option. Thank you as always for your diligence and care - you are by far the most trusted outlet for hardware testing.

I was really considering this cooler. It looks too good to be true honestly price to performance. I’ve seen it as low as $40

I got mine for $35 and have been using it for a year, and it has been solid. The price to performance really is unbeatable, especially when comparing it to more expensive options. A negligible difference in performance (within 1-2 degrees, and acceptable noise of course) for almost $15-20 cheaper. It's a great budget option.

Currently running the Freezer 34 esports Duo on my stock 5900x with PBO enabled. My temps like to sit mid 70s during gaming sessions. I’ve tested it on Cyberpunk 2077, Red Dead Redemption 2, and GTA V. I run everything High/Ultra @ 1440p with a 3080. Not bad for this little cooler at all! It also helps that I do have a high airflow Phanteks P500a case with 6 140mm Phantek fans. I would definitely need an AIO if it wasn’t for my case/fans.

I have been using this cooler for about a year now and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. It keeps my R5 3600 at 70-72°C while gaming and still purs no louder than a kitty, with the added benefit that it fits stylishly within my black and red theme. I also chose it so I could upgrade to an R7 if I wanted to, and your review gives me confidence that I can do so without a problem!

I actually considered one of these, but felt it would be a little light on cooling capacity for a 5900X. I find it interesting that this comes so close to the Fuma 2 while having two less heat pipes and what appears to be significantly less fin area. It might be interesting (if they fit) to try the Fuma 2 with the Arctic fans.

you should do a review of thermalright heatsinks from amazon, there are some that have very good prices and their build quality is similar to that of noctua products but being cheaper

@@nicane-9966 I recently bought a Thermalright True Spirit 120 REV.B Ultimate cooler on amazon which was discounted at $38, the cooler is like the noctua nh-u12s chromax black in terms of build quality but with 2 fans instead of 1. They have good products at very competitive prices.

For me/us is the SEA region, we have a alternate air cooler solution from Arctic(not widely available), which is ID-Cooling. Their SE-226XT model is at a similar price point of around 50USD(converted from MYR), has 6 heatpipes, a wider single tower design and a machined flat surface. Performance wise I dont really know where it stands but from a specifications standpoint looks really good.

I have my Freezer 34 eSports DUO for almost 2 years now and it was my best investment ever! I can almost run it passively on my R5 2600. I even bought some P12 A-RGB fans to make it look even fancier. When I looked up for prices, the difference between 1 fan and 2 fan version was 2€. So, the second fan was almost like for free. 😄 The only thing I would like too from Arctic is the Accelero series for GPUs.

15:15 seems crazy that it performs so close to the NH-D15 even though it's just a single tower. Here in Germany you can also buy it for 37€, so it seems like an absolute no brainer if you are looking for a CPU air cooler

Got the Freezer 34 for my 65W i5 by the end of 2019 after creating OpenOffice charts combining tower cooler results from several reviewers. 😅 I needed something cheap to replace the rattling stock cooler. Later on I decided to do a swap of my only case exhaust (Pure Wings 2) fan with the CPU fan. The tower cooler was over-performing while the exhaust was struggling with the heat from the CPU and GPU. (It's an open GPU cooler and I reversed the CPU cooler flow so it doesn't pull in the heat from the GPU.) To be honest, the noise levels weren't satisfactory at first. But once I learnt that there are resonances at certain RPMs with Arctic's non-RGB fans and set up a stair-case BIOS fan curve accordingly it gave me much better results than the Pure Wings 2. I did the same trick to my GPU fans next that had the same issue and the PC got surprisingly quiet under load. Sometimes I wish I could have GN test it for fun. "Here we have a build from one of our viewers. It's a 30€ case with only 1, yes ONE, exhaust fan at the top."

Please do some Thermalright cooler reviews! They have put out some of the best air coolers over the past 20 years but don't seem to get much recognition. The ARO-M14, Macho, TRUE and Frost Spirit and other lines of theirs tend to compete with or beat far more expensive Noctua models.

Hi Steve, I don't know if there's any stock in US but Thermalright seems to be a good cooler. They have both air coolers and aios.Tho I haven't used their cpu coolers, I've used their fans for my case and it performs well in my very hot environment. I also used their fans for the replacement for my Scythe Fuma 2's fans. BTW, Scythe fans starting to have this wobbling sounds after 6 months. Same for Scythe Kaze Flex a bought for my case fans, it start wobbling after 3 months. Perhaps this warrants an investigation?
