I'm embaresed but I feel I have to tell this stupid story. I was 16 when I bought my first NOFX EP - THE LONGEST LINE. The EP was designed to be played at 45RPMs but I had been playing all of my LPs AT 33 1/3 RPMs. So I'd rolled THE LONGEST LINE EP at 33 1/3 RPMs as all the other "plates". At that "speed" I had been listening to "THE LONGEST LINE EP" for at least 2 years! DOOO YOOUU IIIMAAGIINEEE HOOOWWW SLOOOWWW THAAATTT WWWAAASSSsss...??? At one random day (I guess I accidentally shifted the "33/45" switch on my stereo) I heard the "familiar" sound of other NOFX albums that I'd been listening on CD player. And at that moment - EUREKA! - I have finaly played THE LONGEST LINE EP at PROPER RPMs as it should be played from the begining. :) It was HC 100km/h! Although I still can hear that "melancholic/bluesy" sound in my head if I want to. And, you know what?! I do that often! ;) It grows on you.

I did a 3 month trip to Costa Rica in the early 90s and this was the only tape I had due to getting robbed at knife point in San Jose. So, we listened to it repeatedly. It still reminds me of that trip and the emotional feeling of being alive to this day. "Life on the edge of a razor, never knowing when you're to fall. Sure as hell beats never gambling at all" .

The first punk album I ever purchased back in 2001. Still holds up, such a great album. Came here after watching SXSW with NOFX, pretty interesting that El Hefe spent so long just to end up splicing up Mikes vocals so it sounded like he could actually sing. Thinking about doing that with tape must have taken forever. Definitely gives me a new appreciation for this album knowing that this was one of Hefe's first productions with the band, and after that, they really started finding their sound.

Life is funny. I had a random memory a few nights ago - flashback like - me and Kendal, his Mom, and Dad, drove into the city. I picked up this Album and we played it on the drive home. I think everyone but me was happy it was only 13 minutes. The memory was so odd in that I just learned today his Dad passed. And he stood out in the dream. Having a smoke, window slightly cracked. Crazy to think back then his dad was my age and I thought he was so old.

slap chop I have always heard no fuckin straight edge. I never know what’s right with them. The bands history is filled with false information given in interviews that’s made up on the spot, fake pics of them on albums, sarcastic ideas completely written to se how they are interpreted, and all around skull duggery. So who knows, maybe this history that I’ve pieced together is completely innacurate and made up on the spot?
