Back 5 years later. Still have my relic. I think they fixed all the core issues well. Haven't tried their new stuff, but still love that relic. That thing is a beast that I haven't been able to find in the more modern ones. The modern nokta/makro ones are better in other ways, but they all seem to be like the racer as far as depth and power. But I don't have much experience with them. My favorite coil for my relic is actually the gold+ concentric football white coil my soil is nice here and the concentric does very well with discrimination and stable numbers. The swift mode on the relic is awesome with small coil in really trashy areas. Sacrifice depth but it's even faster recovery than the already insane recovery time.

Very useful, thanks so much. You're one of a very few that put the time and effort into a thorough test and review with real tests, measurements and comparisons, much appreciated!

Keith, Very well done effort in evaluating the two detectors. I have both and my experiences have been similar. It would really be something if Nokta put a Racer 2 style screen on the Fors Core. Bill in Los Angeles

Interesting. I have heard so many people tell me Fors Core is heavy but you seem to think that the balance neutralises the weight.
@scannerguy1968
8 жыл бұрын
Very much so. Most of the weight is closer to your elbow under the strap. Like a balance scale kind of. Other designs that have a forearm strap still put most the weight out onto your hand due to 80 percent of the detectors weight is out front. The core you almost can get away with not gripping it and still swing it. Half the weight is under your elbow. Think they did a great job with weight placement and shocks me no other company is following suit.

wow i reaaaaaaly want to see the core vs. the relic so bad. i definitely give the edge to my relic over my racer 2 however thats not to say that the makro racer 2is bad by any means. just that they are meant for different types of hunting. funny part is even though i have the relic i still seem to want the core. i missed the end of the year deal where you get the covers and the pointer free, but i still see a core in my future. heck im tempted to send you my relic to run the test so everyone can see.... including me!! love your videos brother. the test bed you have is great and gives a great constant for the tests you run. i hope you can find more to test. happy hunting brother!!

The depth reading is totally inaccurate on the CoRe. I like mine a lot but I'm still puzzled by the fact that they could not get it right. Iron audio would be nice and the spread of high conductor ID's should be larger. Too many targets get the 82 number.
@2010stoof
4 жыл бұрын
@@masterofrevolt106 yeah the core is 0-40 iron on the scale and relic is 0-20 and it expands the rest of the scale further apart. The racer 2 is 0-10 iron so even more expanded. I have heard of the 82 reading. Definitely like the tone break and pitch settings, swift mode for trash (would do alot better in his garden with the nails next to coins) and the smaller iron area on the relic. The relic is outdated now to most people with all the new ones since nokta and makro merged, but I still love mine. Was also able to get the fors gold plus 5x9 solid concentric coil (gold plus could and relic are interchangeable) and I like it on the relic. Besides the 7" round I got for my racer two there's no option for the relic to have a concentric besides that one.

I have had both of these detectors. I thought the fors core was quite good but didn't have any faith in the racer 2. it didn't feel as well built as the fors. I found with the racer 2 that although it had the deep mode you couldn't run it in deep as it sounds off all over the place. it is useful for checking iffy signals to decide if they are good or iron. just my opinion but I try to be honest.
@scannerguy1968

I felt the same. That is why I still own the Core and got rid of the Racer. You'd of thought Makro would of been close to identical to the Core being as they share the same tech. Some have good luck with the Racer though.

Wow I was considering 'upgrading' to the Racer 2 as I have the Fors core already but seems the Fors has the edge in everything apart from depth, think I'll stick with it, one thing is weight though the Fors core is quite heavy 1.8kg where as the Racer is 1.4kg and the Deus is like 1kg.

I think they have tried to get all of the same features into a smaller box and it is a compromise. out of the lower end detectors I have owned I found the AKA sorrex pro to be an awesome machine. the only downside was it was no good for wet mineralised sand. I am a couple of weeks in with the ctx 3030 now and I am feeling more faith in it on every hunt.
