I have been using Cinema 4D for last 6 years. Just recently start to learn sculpting wih Nomad and oh man... You are good at teaching you knows. Your videos are organized into small, logical topics that are easy to follow and that is good. Keep up the goodworks man

You can also use post subdivision to round off the cylinder before validating. And by the way, the Round All Brush is not from Dave Reed,, Dave just forgets to mention that. Well, he mentions it briefly in the video description. Great tutorial.

It’s an honor ProcreateFX, you are an amazing teacher. I sincerely apologize for not properly crediting who first came up with this tool. I had first seen it on Dave’s video. He credits you, so I owe you both for introducing me to it. Thank you very much for taking the time to leave me a comment, I truly appreciate it.

Thank you for this, I'm also coming from Blender and have been looking around for videos on how to do some hard surface stuff like you did on the body.

Glad to hear it Jason. Yes, I know the struggle. I have plans to do more hard surface modeling tutorials. The Effortless Lego Head Sculpt video shows how you can manipulate parameters to control the mesh density prior to validating, which is very useful for hard surface modeling. Thanks for supporting the channel. Take care!

Super helpful, coming from Blender I have a hard time doing hard surface modeling type sculpts in Nomad because I'm so used to being able to manually adjust the position of each vertex.

Sometimes I consider going back to Blender, but you just can't beat sculpting from the couch IMO. I work with a standing desk too so even more incentive not to go back.@@making-things

@@Surimi888 Haha. I respect that. The couch factor is strong. Totally different tools from a process-perspective. A super impressive tool for an iPad app. I just need more tools that let me warp and shape an invalidated object.

any chance you could do a video on how you set up the reference?

Hey Ty. Are you asking about how I created the Lego model sheet? If so, I had taken screenshots of a Mecabricks minifig - mecabricks.com. Mecabricks lets you launch a 3d viewer and modeler from the Mecabricks website. I just posed a minifig from the front back and side, then stitched the photos together. I am also working on a video where I'll show a better method for setting up reference images. I don't know if I answered your question or not, but if not happy to answer more questions.

@@making-things and scale to measurement rather than ratio as is. Right now I have to make a box to the height I want and scale up (or down) what ever it is that I want printed. Also the ability to set an actual scale. Though I can deal with one unit equaling what ever I want it too it would be nice to be able to integrate nomad with shapr3D better and a proper measurement system would be ideal.
@making-things

@@coinopanimator I know. I haven’t 3D printed anything from Nomad yet, but I can see the issues with real-world scale. Nomad should allow for inch translation. I tried to research what Nomad’s unit scale was in relation to an inch, but I haven’t found anything as of yet.

Is there a way to snap to vertices, edges or faces in Nomad? Also, I find when I'm trying to use the gizmo to move an object with the Apple Pencil it often jumps (moves) when I lift the pencil. Any tips on how to make more precise movements?
@making-things
4 ай бұрын
As far as more precise movements, you can type in a number value into the X, Y, Z translation fields in the Gizmo settings menu. I tend to do that when I want exact placement. I haven't run into your situation regarding objects moving after you lift the pencil. Check to see if you have snap on or off when the Gizmo tool is active. Sometimes. you might have it on and set to a value higher than 0, which can cause the "jumping" motion. If you email me a screen recording of your problem, I'd be happy to see if I can figure it out. makingthingsonyt@gmail.com

And to answer the question about snapping vertices. I don't think this is possible. I have wanted that for a long time. The Tube tool works this way with snap turned on, but I want objects to snap to other objects' faces or edges as you mentioned.

Any chance the tube tool and a sphere for the shoulder would work for the arm?

Yes, that can definitely work. I released a Tube Tool video that shows how you can round an invalidated tube. If I had used that technique for this video, it would have made it much easier.
