I’m an old ass man, still call it The Block. My great-grandmother used to take me to the City Mall back way back, like the mid 80s. I was pretty young but even then that mall seemed pretty dingy and dying. Wife and I live in Garden Grove, we still go to the Block from time to time. She hits up the Nordstrom Rack and I belly up to the bar in that Saddle Ranch for attitude adjustment. Does anyone remember the table gaming place, like a Warcraft or something like that, on the south end where (if I remember correctly) the DKNY store is now? Or the sushi place on the southwest where the Loft place is now? I saw a lot of movies there, one I really remember was the Blair Witch Project. And the last movie I ever saw before the whole Covid insanity was at the Block too, Midway, went with my dad. Didn’t sit in a movie theater again until about a year ago. So much nostalgia at the City Mall/Block. Thank you for creating this, JayMan.

Hey, those cameras license plate readers, some and some other kind of other reader. I just saw something about how the Orange County Sheriff's Department is going to have some type of new technology. I think some kind of headgear or super computers they can locate find you have all information work, banking in an instance by wearing them or working with the device. I'm not kidding this is part of the 15-minute cities that's why we're building all these apartments in all of Orange County, you know "You will owe nothing and be happy" it's pretty sad that a lot of people have no clue on what's actually happening to them... good luck you're going to need it in the dystopian future! 😢

I missed the Tu Tu tango restaurant many years back. It was right outside the AMC theaters. It was a great place to go on Sunday they had great Margarita specials there and it was also a cool place to hang out in the summertime. From what I heard their rents were raised on them because the existing retailer that's there now wanted that space and they were forced to close the restaurant. Really sucks! The skatepark is probably closed maybe for liability reasons or because of probably their insurance policy would not cover it anymore or they either raise their rates. And I heard many years back before Covid somebody did get hurt there and I'm not sure if they died or not.

Nice video. Did In-N-Out take over the old Carls Jr restaurant out near The City Drive? You didn't seem to go down to the AMC theater but glad you at least showed it was still there. The last time I was at that mall was the weekend after 9/11 to see the re-released version of Apocalyspe Now (hi-def director's cut) in that theater. It was Saturday afternoon and after the movie I took a walk through the mall (it was enclosed at that time) and the place was dead; all the stores were open but no customers. I thought the number of security personnel they had there outnumbered the number of customers walking around. Crazy time back then.

@@HEYMANWITHJAYMAN Thanks. I speeded it up through the second half of the video this morning as I had to get going and missed it but saw the marquee for the AMC theater in the first half of the video. I think the 'government building' out at Lampson and Lewis is now the California Public Employees Retirements System's local office for L.A., OC, metro Riverside/metro San Bernardino county areas. The big tall building was a generic office building (lawyers, accountants, insurance agents and such) and it had a big Wells Fargo Bank branch on the lower floor, plus a regional loan processing center on two of the upper floors back in the day (a friend's wife worked there). The cameras might be for traffic enforcement, but I know they also put cameras near street corners to watch for traffic back-ups and can adjust the sequencing of the traffic lights to alleviate traffic jams (Huntington Beach does it when big events are in town or holiday weekends with big beach crowds). Cheers.

@@kendallevans4079 I believe certain things like clothing stores will have to exist. Especially for myself I like to try certain types of pants before I buy them. Don't want to constantly have to order everything in life and then have to return it it just gets to turn into a hassle. We don't have any stores people are going to become more unhealthy in this life to the point where they just won't leave the house or do anything anymore. Apps and the internet have ruined life here to the point where people just don't want to be mobile anymore. People are even too lazy to go out and mingle and meet people and they want to rely on a dating app to find true love when there's nothing but scammers on there anyways. Human beings are meant to be social you need to get out and move around. If you've got social anxiety or you're an introvert maybe you should go and get psychological counseling to get over it.
