@@pastel9315 Youre not that type of autistic. The fact that youre on here, speaking, shows that. Severe autism comes with a lack of consciousness, screaming and fitting for no reason, and not being able to construct sentences. They arnt just unable to verbalize it, they arnt able to construct it. The worst thing to ever happen to "autism" is making a spectrum. It lumps people who would have previously been considered aspie(IE awkward, nervous, unable to read faces), with the people who need actual care and are unable to wipe themselves. They've been saying for years they are going to find a better clinical term for the socially awkward/nervous type as it causes people to be less aware of severe autism, but im not getting the urgency.

I worked as a camp counselor at an autistic summer camp for a couple of years in high school. There was one kid (around 11-12) who was nonverbal and kept him involved in games, but he loved swimming and the arts and crafts time. We had a daily walk and he generally didn't want to go on those so he would stay back at the cabin with the troop leaders. I had gone back inside to grab something, probably my phone, but when I did I asked myself where I had put it. While I was looking around I wasn't planning on getting a response, but the little “Huh... I don't know where you put it” threw me for a loop. I just turned to look at him and he was working away on his little wooden car kit we had that day. I just said, “Oh, okay. I found it!” and let me tell you, I almost cried. I just felt so happy that he felt safe and comfortable enough to say that one-liner. He never said anything else but it was a moment I’ll never forget.

This is so beautiful and makes my heart sing. My son was mostly nonverbal until he was 6 yrs old, he could say basic words but not clearly for the majority of people to understand. I know that feeling of shock, excitement, pride and joy when they say something clearly or new. Thanks to his brilliant first school teacher who helped us access the assistance he needed. A gorgeous speech therapist came into our lives as well as a new pediatrician and he was diagnosed with Childhood Speech Apraxia (CSA) which is a extremely rare and complex disability. He is 8 almost 9 and with help from his speech therapist he now speaks confidently and in full sentences but his pronunciation isn't perfect but who speaks perfectly all the time anyway. I can happily say he hasn't stopped talking since. I'm so proud of my son.

Nonverbal autism is a scam. How do I know? I was diagnosed nonverbal until 5 years old. Being nonverbal isn't an actual mental issue, its a learned habit. These type of parents get an autism diagnose for their kid and use it as an excuse to not raise them properly and so they can get special privileges. Most kids with autism you see now use their diagnosis as an excuse to avoid doing actual work in life. I had ignored my autism diagnosis for years until I accepted myself and it has allowed me to live a relatively normal life. The kids I went to sped school with would use their diagnosis as an excuse to play around with toys in class (or as they claim, fidgeting) while I was the only one doing actual work. Fidgets are another part of our society that is causing these kids to act dumber than they really are.

as a partially verbal autistic it's most likely just coincidence. nonverbal autistics, especially children, have a hard time saying words on purpose

She could also just be using single-syllabic and multi-syllabic sound series that she subconsciously associates with the items that have stimulated her. It may be intentional, but it could also be unintentional and coincidental. Maybe she has seen a lot of ads on TV for that applesauce pouch with babies and toddlers. We could make a bunch of nonsense syllables back to back in our own language while unknowingly and unintentionally speaking a real word or phrase in another language. same goes for kids. sometimes it's just sounds for them, without intention to use a word.

@@thecomorbiditycurator8018 OMG. Can’t you just celebrated what that means to mom instead of throwing a text book at this!

Well, you might need to get checked to make sure you're not pregnant. Because that happened with my daughter. She came up to me and patted me on the stomach and said baby brother's in Mommy's tummy. I ended up going and getting a pregnancy test the next day and found out I was pregnant and didn't know it.

When I became pregnant for the second time my son the age of 6 said, maybe you will have two babies. One for you and one for me. Then at my first ultra sound, found out we were having twins.

This happened with my mom. My 1yo brother would keep patting her belly saying baby. She didn't even know since she hadn't missed any periods up to that point, she finally went to the doctor about it and it turned out she's actually pregnant. I swear little little kids have super powers

My kid was non verbal til 5 years old. Even if they don't speak I encourage you guys to talk to them, and also listen when they are talking. They really appreciate it.

I love the name, and this is so cute! I know so many kids that are treated poorly because of their autism and even screamed at because they cannot understand words, this bring me hope for the future.
