We aren’t planning to graze where we are grazing now until sometime next growing season after full and complete recovery.

Not enough! I was there in 1999 and 2001 for some port calls when I was in the Navy. Loved Australia hope to make it back there someday!

I'm not a cattle expert. 2:38 cow looking skeletal others showing ribs and hips and you like that forage amount? We are doing things a bit different with sheep.

We are putting quite a bit of selection pressure on our animals to find the ones that best fit our environment and efficient forage utilization these animals will be culled when their calves are weaned. They are not adapted to this system.

When you done your calculations is that 800,000 lbs per acre per move or is that including all moves together?

Per move.

Doesn't that change for a lot of reasons, so you are constantly managing? It is different Greg Judy has been doing it for years, plus he has interns he is teaching who are asking if he doesn't notice. He would say good job, keep observing.

The white cow is way, way too thin for a beefer, look for bottle jaw and test for Johnes, if she has loose manure, especially if you have brought in any cattle. What percentage of the females wean a calf each year with this pasture management?

The white cow gives to much milk probably for this management but that being said she has calved in the first 21 days of our 45 day calving season from the age of 2 years until current which she’s now 8 years old. We have seen some turnover in our cows as we demand more of them but we consistently breed up 80- 85% plus every year in a 45 day breeding window. We are moving half our herd to start calving in May this year and will transition the other half next year in an effort to better match our production with grass growth. As we continue to refine our genetics we expect to improve that to 95% or better. That being said we are running at double stocking rate for our area with little to no winter feed or supplement. The double stocking rate more than makes up for a 10% drop in conception rates while making the transition to better adapted genetics! Also we don’t bring in any cattle and she doesn’t have a loose stool we haven’t brought any new cattle into our herd since 2016 when we were still building our original herd.

Glad to hear she is not a candidate of Johnes. It is a brutal disease in a herd. Blessings to you
