As a professional vinly wrapper and ppf installer, I can say this is such a good video I might have to start showing my customers this. You hit on pretty much all of the FAQs and key talking points I go over. Instead of wax for vinyl(especiallymatte and satin), we use 303 to keep up on it. I tell my customers that the best reason to do a wrap is because you want a something that is a crazy color, pattern, or finish that is hard to paint. Otherwise, just be patient with picking out a car in the color that you actually want.

If I was a bit keen on wraps before, now I am all against Considering it being prone to damaging and peeling off, I'd rather have my car stripped to bare unibody and painted for 3x the price, and then be happy for 30 years without worries instead of 3 years with everyday stress about the wrap condition

For me wrap is only for new cars as to not damage the paint. Paint is for cars that had their years. If a wrap job cost more then a paint job then just stick with paint, it'll come out better and won't peal overtime. Now if you are looking for a color for a project car and just don't like the look of your car while it's still being worked on or just sitting then wrap is a good option while you still think about what color you want. For me I had bought a 240sx and decided to wrap it pearl white myself till I decide what color I'll be painting it.

Please note that everything is based on how well the wrap was installed. Someone who is good at wrapping can use the really cheap stuff and have it last for a very long time. That being said the quality of the vinyl itself is very important especially because most people are not pros. As a side note I wrapped my car by my self for the first time over a year ago with the cheapest stuff on the market (cheetah wrap vinyl. $400 for a roll of 60ft). So far the wrap has held up for the most part. It certainly has pealing up in some areas but that is because of instal error such as not cleaning the part I’m wrapping. However I want to say that I did a matte purple and I have washed it many times and I love it because it’s easier for me to wash. I just use a wash mit and have never pealed it or damaged it and I don’t have any micro scratches. Note I live in Utah being somewhere else will have different effects. Also my car is outside 100% of the time and has been taken on multiple road trips. Honestly I did vinyl because my paint was crap and I didn’t want to pay for a paint job and vinyl is way less maintenance

1- 2 videos in a week? NOICE. 2- Now i get that in Monterrey (Mexico) getting a well designed wrap will be a pain in the ass. Monterrey is well known for having weird weather characteristics, sometimes is just unpredictable, so wrapped cars surely have a hard life.

Something I don't think you really mention is the fact that wraps don't need a paint booth. All you really need is a clean garage and you're good to go. Because of this, they are much easier for the DIYer to get into, which I think is useful n00b knowledge. You can do a whole car, but the real advantage is the repair. After my custom painted (color shift) Porsche 986 took a rock to the door, I realized there was no simple fix. It would be impossible to blend and match the custom paint, the whole car would have to be repainted. Paint had only been on for less than a year. This is the thing that sold me on wraps. If I have the same problem with wrap, I can just order another section of the same wrap and redo only that panel. My car is now wrapped in Avery Dennison Gloss Roaring Thunder. I didn't do the best job; mostly because my garage is filthy, but it's as good or better than the custom paint job. Best part is I did it myself.

I did an internship at a mechanic shop that works on racecars, and turns out the vast majority of racecars use wraps instead of just paint. Wraps are perfect for racecars because they get rock chips like crazy and they crash and get banged up more often than you think, and its much cheaper and easier to just put a patch of vinyl on a scratch than to paint over it. They don't look great up close with the patch seams, but really the only people getting that close are the crew and the drivers.

So all and all a regular paint job seem so much better. Sure, the base price for a wrap may be half of a paint job, but so is the lifespan of it (according to my 30 sek googling adventure). Plus you also have the added cost of an extra protective layer (ceramic or PPF). Not to mention all the precautions and much higher risk than just a normal high quality paint job.

I'm a "Northerner" but as it stands, it sits in the 100°+ sun to the burried in snow. And before that, the pain damage from rock chips as well as not being the best at washing it, it is the only way.
