clutch kicking is definitely the best way to initiate imo.

Man once you get good at drifting in AC its so so rewarding absolutely my favorite game to drift in and its pretty freaking realistic if you've ever been drifting i love it great practice that can be applied in the real world also get a Direct Drive setup it makes a world of difference and get Moza i use a R12 but my first Direct Drive was a R5

Been drifting in assetto for a little over a year now, here’s two things that you can consider to get you started. 1.) you can bind clutch as 2 inputs so from 0-95% have it act as a clutch and from 95-100% have it act as a handbrake, it actually works really well and i still don’t feel the need to buy a real handbrake. A guy named 2JayZ has a video on how to do it if you are interested. 2.) Watch ctorreto’s how to drift series all the way through, and focus on throttle control, it’s probably the reason majority of people have trouble getting used to drifting on wheel and his tutorials really helped me get started, and of course practice and you’ll be fine

clutch kick is good and the best to be fair, the scandinavian flick is good when slow and handbraking is good when youre fast
@crazyllzzard

and overpowering is good too, its when you floor the throttle and flick the wheel to the direction you wanna go and then you let the wheel self steer and grab it by the angle you wnat it to stop
@davidthompson952
8 ай бұрын
scandinavian flick or clutch kick both techniques work pretty good and for transitions simply let off the gas when your car starts to transition so you don't over rotate/spinout and allow your steering wheel to spin freely while transitioning until you get close to your desired angle.... getting a handbrake will definitely help with making small corrections however do your best at not relying on it once you have one. best of luck and more importantly have fun with it

hey, I also drift with a G29. I've gotten pretty good at it since my main focus is racing. but I do have some advice. The G29 is not the best whel for drifting, it's gear driven which means it can be a bit slow when trying to rotate the other way like a real drift car, therefore you gotta choose the right mods to drift too. A good example is WDTS and Gravy Garage, they're pretty beginner friendly
@Vroomy

not sure if anyones told you this but if youre on a g29 you kind of need to help the wheel transition by pulling it to the side youre transitioning to, just bc the logi doesnt have enough torque to transition for you like how it does on a real car/higher torque wheels 👍

Hi man, at first I didn't had a handbrake and I didn't set my clutch as handbrake. Clutch kick and flicks are the way to go for initiation, it tells you much more on weight transition of the car that just pulling the handbrake. If you learn how to drift without a handbrake it will be so much easier and fun later when you'll have a proper handbrake. I guess the purpose of the handbrake is really on very tight hairpins, when coming with some speed towards the apex and later on after some practice you'll see you can use it to extend the drift if you entered too soon in a corner. Practice and seat time works best. Good luck on learning. Stay sideways :D
@ksoulmusic

Oh and for practicing, do donuts until you master them, around the cone, so that you have a point of contact where to look. Try to do a close donut around the cone then gain distance while drifting, keep the distance from the cone for some time then regain proximity to the cone again. This will tell you how to handle the steering and throttle management, and later on you will learn what's it called throttle steering (you can search on YT how it works) Then for transition I can definitely recommend figure 8s. Is the best way to go.

great video, when i started with AC drifting i didnt have a handbrake so i binded my clutch pedal to be the clutch and handbrake at the same time. so basically the clutch would be 100% and i put the handbrake to 50-70%. its a little bit better than only just having the handbrake.

Using throttle to either stay in a drift or transition into another corner say your 3/4 throttle in a corner and need to transition you would throttle a little more then let off the car will start to grip and turn the opposite way then get back in the throttle and steer
@TheJohnbarks12
8 ай бұрын
Also if you let the wheel glide in your hands you can feel when you have the right angle and the way you initiate will depend on the corner your going into if you need speed use weight transfer if your slower and need to gain speed clutch kick and if your fast and need to slow down use e-break
