I have two ice augers the very first one I got about 4 years ago when I went out & Baught everything to go ice fishing & that was my very first time ever going ice fishing!! The first one was an Eskimo 43cc gas auger 8”! I’m a shorter guy at 4’11” so when trying to get stuff out on the ice can definitely be a work out alone for me!! So after using that Eskimo 8” auger the weight of it was definitely getting to me for sure!! Really you don’t want to wear your self out just getting out to a spot that you want to fish with all your gear & then be all war out before fishing!! So I had looked around for a while & ended up getting a strike master ice auger to put on under my Milwaukee drill!! I did end up getting the 6” instead of the 8” one!! I also ended up getting the clam plate to go in between the two!! This set up is over half the weight of my gas 8” auger!! I do no that the Eskimo gas auger was the lightest auger out of all the gas auger I could find!! I have been letting a buddy of mine use my gas powered auger for the past two years & he keeps telling me that he’s just glad to be able to use mine because he couldn’t afford one & his hand auger ended up breaking on him!! Why did strike master go to the half size auger this year?? Like they are 7.5” or a 8.5”?? I got the 6” one three years ago & was wanting to get a 8” one so my live scope transducer would fit in the hole better!! It does fit down my 6” holes but it’s kinda tight!! I do like the looks of that auger you got but I definitely like the chipping blades better!! Mine doesn’t walk when trying to start the hole because strike masters do have a centering bit on there augers with chipping blades!! I think it was Eskimo that came out with one that didn’t have the centering bit & those tended to walk on people witch could become dangerous!! I might have to see if I can get one like you got there & surprise my buddy with it!! I do no he has said something about the weight of it a couple times but he keeps telling me oh it don’t bother me I’m just glad you let me barrow it he says!! Well awesome video buddy & didn’t you say you lived in Iowa?? Where abouts do you live in Iowa if you do?? I’m in southern Iowa in Osceola Iowa!! Was just wondering if you was going to do the ice tournament this year at west lake?? It’s at the end of the month!!

I live in Montana! These guys also make a 6 inch model! Link in bio should take you to the website. The price is hard to beat 👀 and the drill adaptor is a nice touch

Welcome to the light and quite side of augers bud! That handle and adapter also will insure you can’t lose it down the hole. I just wonder how it would handle very thick ice and how many holes it could make before the battery is a goner. You’ll have to let us know. The price is unbeatable though.

I have 3- 2ah lithium 20v batteries. Get about 12 holes in 7- 8 inches of ice on a battery

Still unsure about drill augers. They are cool though. How many holes are you popping, in say 12 inches of ice, before the battery goes dead? I know that drill and battery size make a difference, but just as a general reference.

I have 3 - 2ah lithium batteries. I can drill probably 7-10 holes with 1 battery at 12 inches. If I had A bigger battery it would double/triple

I bought this.. and it didn't come with the drill cradle/handle, just a handle. first time out the handle fell off and now rides freely on the shaft of the auger. if it comes out the drill it goes to the bottom of the lake. not ideal. anyone know how to fix this?

Call HT customer service, they'll send you a new drill adapter. That's what I did when I burnt mine out. It's an old guy in Minnesota or somewhere like that.

Not a bad deal buuut if you get a quality drill like Dewalt or Milwaukee, then your getting into some money. Got my gas Strikemaster used with extra blades for a buck 20 so I couldn't pass it up but it is a beast to haul around.
