I've used the same type that I made in the 90s out of a chainsaw chain and key rings I cut wood for handles but replace it with rope in the late 90s great video sir keep up the great work

I bought these when the brand first appeared here in Sweden. I figured it would be better than what we had seen so far n this format. It wasnt. I wanted to love it but even the cheapest smallest folding saws will outperform it 10/10 and pack down just as easy. Just strap the saw to your knife sheath with some old bicycle tubing for belt carry.

This looks, and seems to work, a lot like the UST Sabercut chainsaw I reviewed. One thing I like better about this version is the orange handle straps. The UST version has black straps which are a lot easier to get lost in the woods. The orange ones would be a lot more visible. Looks like a really good product Dave.

i suppose another use, in military application (historically) could have been for the opposite, and felling trees over a trail to slow enemy travel. sure looks a LOT better than those cable saw crap you see in outdoor stores lol

Only if you absolutely can't carry a better saw. These things can suck big time on certain tough trees/situations and wear you out. Two people can operated it more effectively or stretch it between a bow if possible. The only upside is the portability.

I agree but most of the time a large saw is not convenient on a 4 wheeler etc.

I've seen many types of these saws over the years and considered them gimmicky and not very well made . If you recommend this model is might rethink my position . A couple of years ago a storm blew down a pine tree about , or a little smaller than , the tree you cut in this video , blocking a road in my area . I cut it into manageable lengths with my 10 inch Corona folding saw , opening the road again . I watched a video on saws that you made sometime after that and you disliked the Corona . You preferred the Bahco Laplander , but the video was about saws for bushcrafting. I have a Sierra saw and the saw in my Swiss Army Knife for bushcrafting. I plan on obtaining a Bahco Laplander as my go to and putting the Sierra in reserve status . Would you consider the 10 inch Corona as a viable tool for trail and road clearing like you just demonstrated ? Thanks for all you do and thanks for your service . US Navy veteran here .

@David Canterbury I am just thinking: wouldn't you say that one solid pro of this chain saw is its sturdiness? In my humble opinion it is much easier to brake the folding saw, especially when cutting trying to cut cut big pieces of timber. Just my humble opinion

The wood seemed to be fairly soft, but the saw worked remarkably well. I've tried those cheap wire saws & they broke every single time. IMHO, a lightweight Buck saw is till the best option. Have an aluminum Buck saw, less than 3lbs, I've been strapping to the outside of my pack for over 30 years. Hasen't failed yet.

Say Heah Dave, Alot of guys like going ultra light and compact. Until they have to use the gear. Smaller more compact to me means more work. So I simply like to get a Folding Saw with a Scabbard. ei. my Agawa Canyon 21 Boreal Saw, or my EZ KUT WoW Folding Saw, or my Wicked Tough Saw. The last two I can carry in a open position, I like that. I also got the One Fits All Silky Bigboy Scabbard. You can carry the saw in the open position., but it works carrying the saw nicely.,,.p

I've been wondering the feasibility of taking a saw like that and kinda making a bow out of it with a piece of wood. Think I could get enough tension to use it as a hand saw? No real reason just tinkering.
@johnruckman2320
6 жыл бұрын
Speaking of saw blades, I have an old Hungerford D 21" Bowsaw that needs a new blade. The raker tooth that's on it has a 9/16" hole, but all I have found so far have slightly smaller holes in the blade. The tensioner is a wing nut and j-bolt affair. Do you know where I can get the right blades for this tool, or do I need to get something newer?
