Yes Adam she does sound good and I glad you started her up I was getting a little disappointed that you were not going to start her up but you read our minds thank you 😊it will be interesting to see the generator working to but I dare say you will show us later 😊👍👏👏

I do love the whole appearance of this old girl and how sweet she runs i love how the exhausts look really give me a motorbike kind of vibe from it 👍

I think self amalgamating tape inside the glands at each end would make the leads secure and water proof.

As she ran lean she ran right! I still think that air corrector you soldered is the key! As you undo it you expose more holes letting in more air at the main jet.

What a beautiful engine Adam, runs lovely - well done! New carb bits should make it an absolute corker :) Was me who mentioned the tank, I'm a bit of a lawn mower nerd 😉

If I remember from my time in the Army, with a battery on the generator the button on the box operates the generator as a Starter

A little bit of stainless steel braid sleeving would cover that HT lead niceley and make it look a bit more original.

Perhaps just for appearance sake you could use a normal flexible calor gas type pipe, braided of course, or even a flexible water hose pipe, feed your normal ht lead through the braided pipe to make it look original after cutting it to length.

you could use antenna-coax to replace the leads. Just measure the outer diameter. This generator was probably used for some army-transmitter ... and every "spark-noise" had to be avoided. Hence the use of "shielded" cable plus a resistor.

@@paul36uk could be, yes. With an inverter it could be re-used as generator ... (just thinking-out loud)

At 16:00 he screwed-up. The lead should have laid-over inside that insert, then screw the screw in! No soldering would have been required.

I think you should have put some packing material on the leads and then tightened the nuts on them to hold the wire cable from coming loose. Just a suggestion.

I noticed that the right hand exhaust pipe is loose, does the clamp need tightening, maybe an idea to also clamp the two pipes together as well in order to stop the movement.

I've found a pdf manual on that type of carb which details lots of things relating to good or bad running. Similar problems to yours. I'll see if I can get it to you somehow.
